These guys are privately owned ships from traders given licence to explore beyond the bounds of Imperial space.
These guys are conquistadors of the future, pillaging and exploiting resources that the vast Imperium desperately craves.
They even have licence to trade hated xenos scum, showing that the Imperium is usually willing to make exceptions to its rules when its convenient.
The fleet contains a wide range of models from different sources that I will explain as I go through them.
The large models in the middle here are the official cruiser models. These are the only official models that were made with this style of prow and are pretty rare, as they came out late in the games run. Also there were regular plastic models for Imperial cruisers that were much cheaper than these metal ones.
I have six of them, which is pretty awesome for bragging rights.
I gave them some transfers of dolphins on the sides of their prows. I wanted something that didn't look like normal Imperial Symbols, as these are private vessels.
As well as different prows they have cool little side wing bits you can see from above.
These are resin escorts by Void Crucible. He's working on some bigger ones that I am really looking forward to.
Okay I lied, this grand cruiser is an official model too. And it's pretty cool if you ask me!
These light cruisers are from Resin Addict, but have the official BFG weapon pods.
This one is a light cruiser from void crucible. Hes' captured the Rogue trader look really well I think.
Now lets get to the Battleships-
These are official models but they have custom prows from the 3d printing site shapeways.
I added the wings too the backs of the battleships to make them even more snazzy.
Here is one next to the official battle ship without any conversions for comparison.
I love the way the front on this one has a hatch for the canon. I like the idea that such a powerful weapon as a nova canon might not he strictly legal for someone outside of the imperial navy to have, so they need to have a way to stash it when they are near the authorities.
Don't ask me how much those prows cost. Faaaar too much.
But I love them.
These two have the cool dolphin symbols as well. I always like using transfers when ever there is a big flat space on a model. I like that they can make nice uniform symbols that I couldn't reproduce by hand.
Those never specific, the background tends to imply a rogue trader would have just one cruiser and a few escorts...but wheres the fun in that? If you discover some planet made of diamonds, why not splash some cash on a fleet?
After all, the aliens might want those planets made of diamonds too, so you gotta be ready to back your plans up with some firepower.
Whether its by trade, theft or force, no resource will be safe from the greed and adventurous spirit of this adventures.
Just look at this-
Emeralds the size of star ships! We'll be rich!
Ooops! Some you win, some you lose. These treasures will have to remain undiscovered.
