Okay, so, speaking of things that may or may not further ruin our childhoods...
Yeah, Disney is doing a remake of The Jungle Book. And, it turns out, so is Warner Brothers, which is releasing theirs in 2017. Both have a woman voicing Kaa, which is fine.
You know, I'd like to see one where Kaa isn't evil, you know, like how it is in the books. Oh wait, they did one like that. In Russia. And it was better than almost all the other versions out there, and I bet it will be better than these ones too. No matter if Christopher Walken voices King Louie and Idris Elba voices Shere Khan. Heck even the Warner Bros one has Cumberbatch voicing Khan (oh... see what I did there? It was an accident, I swear) and Kate Blanchett voicing Kaa. But it won't do any good.
And for the record. In the original Disney version, they didn't base Monkey King off of a black musician (in fact, there was no Monkey king in the original book, that was kind of the point of the Monkeys, but fuck it), so it isn't racist. In fact, they based it off an Italian singer named Louis Prima. Who, by the way, they also had voice him and his band do the music. In fact, the weird conga line of monkeys was taken right from how the band would sometimes get up and walk around as they played. When they approached Louis Prima about the gig, he asked them: "So, you wanna make a monkey out of me?" When the response was: "Well, yes." He was like: "Alright then!"
Of course, considering most of the music of that time was essentially "borrowed" from black musicians... oh whatever.
Oh. Oh no.
Also, fuck you, I liked Stardust.
