About as good a chance of that as humans have of evolving into chimpanzees. Chimps and humans may share a similar evolutionary path, but humans didn't evolve from chimps. We never were chimps and can't become chimps. In the same way dinosaurs and birds evolved. There's only superficial evidence that they are related. They're probably two different paths, one that dead ends with the dinosaurs and one that goes on to be birds. So birds never actually were dinosaurs.
I'm not sure, but I think we just hijacked a thread about water voles.

Look his kangaroo art just got a bit weird, okay?
If people want kangeroos...well I'll think about it. I must admit Ive pretty much mined all the easy to draw animals at this point.
The guy has a webcomic about Kangeroos who run a delivery service which doesnt' feature all the very strange imagery. But once youve seen a Kangeroo fucking right through an entire planet....that stuff stays with you!

I learned all I need to know about evolution from the bible and episodes of the pokemon cartoon show.
I think that if a female lizard gets fucked by a male fox the off spring will be a fox that is a samurai. That's harko-science!

I do sometimes wonder about the extent of scientific knowledge about these things in Harkovast.

To be fair, the world does operate on different principals to real life, Can (hence it being impossible to mimic what Sapphire and Crazy Veth do in real life).

Oh yeah. But like, what do they theorize are the mechanisms for these things? That kind of thing. I'm not even sure we could say they use genetics either...

I see what you mean. I think it was the 1700s when the idea of creatures changing due to how they live came up, wasn't it? That wouldn't really work here though.

Lamarkanism. Yeah, it competed with evolution for a while, a fun concept. The idea being that you could develop a trait (like longer neck for giraffes) and then pass that same trait to your offspring. While wrong, it was popular in France regardless and actually contributed to French distaste for Eugenics.
And even when people accepted evolution they didn't really know how it worked until that whole gene thing showed up thanks to Mendel.
But even before these ideas people knew that there seemed to be similarities and traits within families. Its like they kinda knew what was going on without knowing what is going on.

Thanks (I couldn't remember the name of the theory). That's interesting about France.

Harkovast is mostly in a very ye olde understanding of things. So they may have figured out what happens but the deeper reasons behind it would be unknown to them.
Since a lot of things in Harkovast work from mystical things rather than scientific principles we know, the Wizards of Eldex would be the best people to explain to you how it all works. Unfortunately wizards rarely explain anything to anyone. Their knowledge about the workings of things is so vast and so innate that they would struggle to dumb it down enough for others to understand even if they wanted to (and they generally don't.)

Hahah what you will do, StyxD, is see a Zhong and take my word for it that its a water vole! Honestly, Im running low on animals here people! Well, I mean, I haven't seen any eagles among any of the species you created so far, so you could maybe make one of those. Maybe even with Golden Eagles (I admit I favor their looks). Since you already have a pseudo brit-american race, I guess the closests other thing you could make them would be either a pseudo-german race (like think feudal era german people, teutonic knights and such) or maybe even a slavic race, based on the polish-lithuanian commonwealth (Golden Eagle Hussars, anyone?). Then again, Vellastrom is already quite full and when I look on the map I dont see any "spots" open for such a nation to be placed.

I think some Nymus priests look like eagles (Nylana's priests I believe). There is a Slavic-inspired race, the Anzlov, they're fennec foxes (and have Winged Hussars!), if you go back a few pages you'll see one of the pirates (seen from behind) has long ears and a red coat. They featured heavily in the RP we just finished, it took place in their homeland, which they share with gorgeous horse people 🐎

Yeah, also just saw there already is a nation based on austro-german nations, the Levengroust, who are skunks. Huh.
Fits with them using guns and gas weapons tho. :V
Too bad they've fallen to the King in the West and that most of them probably are Nameless now.
