I don't think the Ultras are mutants, or at least not all of them. The one guy is just a rip off of Iron Man.

I want to do some more art of some of the characters, and Mech-Beast's using his chest cannon. I'll get on that when i get chance! Always more things to do (that should be my life motto.)
If he can convert into a gun, Vipress (which I think sounds better than Viperess) should convert her tail to different weapons, so she can shock them or fire acid or lasers or whatever.
Kids love stuff turning into other stuff!

The idea of making a kids show based on the joke of a child getting into inappropriate situations...that's so fucking mental. Yeah I think I remember artists and writers becoming one and the same, like wiht Spawn. It lead to wonderuflly drawn but terribly written comics (who would have guessed.)
Anyone who makes a comic where the artist and writer are the same person is clearly a freaking idiot. Absolute fucking moron. The whole idea is totally misguided! What were they THINKING?

For me the big go-to of writer/artist being the same person is Bleach. Started out so very promising and now?...Well...Alas. Then again it makes sense-Bleach was great off of visual strength moreso then cool plot. And I imagine vice-versa, if you have a writer trying to do art...Well I imagine there's probably a reason you don't see that latter one too often. Now for the million dollar question brought to mind by Harko's snarking: Which way is the case for Harkovast? Artist primary-writer secondary....Or Writer primary-artist secondary?

Writer primary and artist secondary. I came up with it all as rpg's for my friends. Then I thought it would be fun to write it down in some kind of comic form, as webcomics seemed fun.
And I drew a couple of characters and the pictures weren't terrible, you could tell what things were supposed to be etc. Then Julie said she would colour it (a decision she possibly regrets all these years later!)

The only complaint is the sword needs more "ultra".

Yeah I haven't concentrated enough on the sword being cool. I'll work on that.

I'm thinking of something that has an unassuming dormant state that unfolds or otherwise expands to a sword state. That also has an "ultra" state with a lot of glowie bits and floating around stuff. Something that is a cross between cybernetic and medieval.

Yes, I agree.
I've got some ideas...I will do some art for it and explain what I'm imagining.

Here's an idea.
Maybe the sword is just a super duper power core connected to a handle that sort of looks like a sword hilt without a blade attached. There are dials on the hilt that have a huge amount of possible combinations. The idea is that different correct combinations unlock different functions of the power core. But sorta like the suit in The Greatest American Hero they don't have the instructions for which combination does what. The reason they know the sword combination is because that was the combination it was left in when the princess stole the sword. You could also say she stole the instruction book as well, but when getting into the escape pod she accidentally dropped it. When the pod launched it was destroyed by the rockets.
The power core doesn't have a blade, but in the sword configuration it draws in nearby material to make one. It can use any raw material to do this. Scrap iron, rocks, broken Dread-Bots, glass, water, even air. Each created blade would have varying effects due to the make-up.
The power core has some sort of AI with rudimentary intelligence, and occasionally will automatically unlock functions on its own. Such as when Lancer's ship needs a recharge the dials spin into the recharge port combination by an accidental voice command.
