Stereotype. Native Americans weren't magic hippies who were completely in harmony with nature. They were less destructive than Europeans, but they still took a toll on the environment.

Yeah, they were human beings just like the rest of us. I'm not sure where the "nothing went to waste" fable came from. Obviously you eat more meat than you need bone splinter needles. Sure, you could grind the bone into meal and use it to supplement your food, but if you have enough to eat already than it's not worth the expense.

And depending on how long a drop it is I imagine there would be some meat damage, probably contamination if their bowels were ruptured.

It's funny how hunting tactics can change when you change the species. Different abilities are used and different tactics are considered.
Granted, jumping onto a running buffalo to stab into it isn't the smartest idea. But when you're with a bunch of hyena people for a long enough time you start to follow and maybe adapt to their tactics. And humans are nothing if not adaptable.

I would be interested in running an experiment to see if the seeds were still viable after being shot. They should be, but it would be interesting to see how effective it is.
Of course, it is also kind of silly, but sure, why not?

I guess the guy who designed it said that he likes gardening and guns, and wanted to combine the two.

I'm curious about the ballistics.
Is it lethal? If so, does that count as sending flowers to the funeral?

It'd probably sting like a bastard, like the organic equivalent of rock salt shells.

When I first saw that I thought it was seeds interspersed with shot. So when you went bird hunting you could say you were giving something back as you took something.

Nope, the only things it fires are seeds and a wad.

The video of the guy shooting into the dirt made me think it would take forever to sow a field like that. Wouldn't it be more useful as a way to broadcast seeds over a large area?
Also, is the wad biodegradable?

There's anther video where he fires it from the hip across a field.
Maybe it uses a cardboard wad or something? Although I suppose if you're spreading seeds with a shotgun you're probably the kind of person who either won't mind collecting plastic wads, or won't mind leaving them where they land.

Considering you can just take a handful of seeds and just, y'know, toss em? What's the point in broadcasting them two teaspoons at a time?
