There is more to getting into gamesworkshop than just models. You gotta build em, paint em, glue em and all that good stuff. So before we set out to build our army, lets get all our tools together. In fact, lets make a game of it. I'm going to show you pictures of all the hobby stuff we're going to need and you have to guess the total price. Get as close as you can to the total, but just like price is right, if you go over the real price you automatically lose. For all my international friends, convert your answers into pounds for me please! No obviously, I only want the official GW stuff, cause we've gotta do it properly. First up I will need some paint brushes, so I'll order the complete GW brush set. Can't use paint brushes without paint, so I will get the complete paint set so I've got all the colours like a BOSS! Each pot is 12 ml. To mix the paint, I'll put it on some disposable pallete pads. I'll also get some tools to help build the models. Gonna need clippers... A knife... A drill... Some sculpting tools... Files... This funny tool for taking the mold lines off resin models... And a cutting mat to cut things onto. Lastly, gotta have a hobby box to keep it all in, right? That should do for this little shopping spree... But how much do you think I just spent? Remember, get as close as you can but don't got over the real price! (and don't go check the GW website! It's not like there is a cash prize or anything to justify such cheating!)

I linked to the site in the previous topic to demonstrate to Renard the costs of this hobby.
All that I remember though is a single paint bottle is $5 Canadian.
I'd say that is maybe $200-300 Canadian. So lets say 150 pounds.
Edit: After doing some math on the paints... $800 at least. So about 400 pounds.

I can go to a discount hardware and auto store 5 minutes from where I work and pick up everything but the paints for 30 quid, and I'm pretty sure I could get a decent paint set for about the same.
You're sure people really buy this stuff for such an inflated price? The price of all of this is probably 10% product and 90% name.

I was going to say probably close to like...1000 dollars for all of it... That sounds way too high but all that stuff... Well, maybe 750 if you can get the whole package in one bulk item.

What Renard said.
Most of those tools look like branded ordinary stuff. Unless GW puts fairy dust into those knives and pads (seriously? Branded disposable pads?) there seems little point in buying them if they're too expensive, unless it's to impress fellow nerds.

I'm thinking that's it, bragging rights, although I'm sure there are a few people who are either really loyal to Games Workshop or think they're getting a superior product.

Canuovea is the winner as the price is pretty much about £400 pounds on the nose. You cna have 50 harko points. Let me just point out a couple of details. The paint pots are all tiny. The paint brushes alone are about £85 pounds. I've also heard that the quality is not especially good compared to other ones out there, though I am not stupid enough to pay these prices myself to find out. The carry case is a plastic box with compartments for £40. 40 fucking pounds. The box was made in china. The disposible paint tray things are a fiver. Keep in mind that just put my paint on an old plastic tub lid. That cost exactly fuck all. You are literally just paying for something with the GW logo on it. That's £400 for stuff before you even buy your first minature. They are not joking, these are the real prices. Let's have a bonus round! PVA glue! 120 ml of the stuff. This is your standard white glue. In modelling you might use this for scenery building and stuff (sticking home made asteroids on stands, for example.) To give you a clue on the price... Looking online, one of the first things that came up for pva glue was this big tub, which contains 2500 ml. It costs £4.26. So based on that, how much do you think that handy GW bottle would cost me?

Your first-born son and one quarter of a left testicle?
I'll say 15 quid.

I will give canuovea a chance to guess before the reveal.

The little bottle...
Is that the plastic glue?
Well, I would bet about $16 or a bit more Canadian, so lets say 8 pounds.

Well good news, everyone! GW is actually lower than you all guessed! Hooray!
The little bottle of glue will cost you a fast fiver.
But before you race to snap up this awesome bargain, lets keep in mind that the big container I showed you contains more than TWENTY TIMES the amount of glue, for 20% less money.
Ouch.

Haha this stuff is hilarious. I think they must make a lot of money from new players just buying some glue when they buy a kit, the stuff they make is not totally shit its just about the same quality as the stuff you get from your local hardware store. PVA is wood glue, the white glue you use to stick paper together and stuff. You use it in modelling to glue sand to the models bases to look like grass/rock etc. In modelling you use it in small quantities, so the £5 bottle will last you a long time and seem reasonable if you don't know otherwise. They also sell a water pot to wash paint off your brushes: Yes, its literally just a plastic pot. Hilariously someone on Amazon is selling them for £2,197.
