"Have you ever wondered..?" said Wild Stallion, slowly as he formed his thoughts "If the Nameless think they're the good guys, and we're the bad guys? And then...what if they're right? What if we're the bad guys who think we're the good ones and we've got it all backwards?"
Sunset didn't look up from her basket weaving, but smiled and said "You have such an imagination! I don't know how you keep coming up with stuff like that. I'd love to see what goes on in your head."
"I dunno...I wonder about things sometimes. Thundercloud usually just tells me to shut up."
"Thundercloud says that to everyone, don't take any notice. He just likes to be grumpy. I think its fun that you think of things differently. You don't take things for granted."
"Oh thanks. When something pops into my..." Wild Stallion paused and looked up, peering through the trees and swivelling his ears.
Through the forest came sounds of shouting and far off he could see figures running through the undergrowth.
Noticing Wild Stallion had stopped speaking, Sunset looked up from her basket.
"What's up?"
"I think.." Wild Stallion put a hand on the axe on his belt. "We should go. Let's go right now."
The strange war shouts of Onrapa warriors spread between the trees.
Wild Stallion drew his weapon and ducked behind the nearest trunk.
"Run!" he shouted to Sunset "Run right now!"
Sunset hesitated for a few seconds before dropping her half built basket and fleeing.
Onrapa warriors, smeared in war painted and clothed in filthy tartan, came bounding out of the under growth, leaping over roots and breaking through branches.
Sunset looked back to see Wild Stallion spring from his hiding place, tackling one of the attackers, before continuing to flee.
The sound of her own heart beat was loud in her ears, making the shouts of the warriors chasing her seem fainter than they were. Even so she could tell they were getting louder as they closed in on her.
An Onrapa man shouted something at her, but in the panic of the situation she couldn't make out what he was saying through his strange accent.
She looked back again, and saw a fierce looking Onrapa man bearing down on her. He was covered in both war paint and scars, to such an extent his features were hard to distinguish. With tremendous agility, he leapt up and sprang between the tree trunks to close the gap to her. As he made the final leap towards her, he raised a wooden war club to strike.
Sunset covered her head with her arms in fear. Something wet splashed against the fur on her arms.
As she lowered them, she realised she had been sprayed with blood and the Onrapa warrior was laying at her feet, clutching his body and wheezing.
Looking up she saw a tall Ano-Chee dressed in a long, bright blue robe, embroidered with strange, foreign patterns. The colour contrasted sharply with his very bright red fur.
In each hand he held a long sword with a curving blade, one in a reverse grip.
He turned to look at her, one of his eyes covered by a patterned bandana.
"Are you hurt?" He said, speaking with a thick accent she did not recognise.
Before she could answer, he turned to face more of the on coming Onrapa, rushing directly towards them.
A female Onrapa with a long spear, wielded with both hands, thrust towards the strange warrior. He spun his body to the side, turning down the length of the spear before driving a reverse gripped sword through her neck.
The warrior behind her began to raise his sword but the stranger was faster, taking the Onrapa's arm off with a slash of his blade.
Without saying anything else, he rushed out of view amongst the trees, heading in the direction the Onrapa were coming from, his swords held out behind him.
