Scatterpod toyed with a feather on her headdress as she watched the one eyed stranger approach the village centre, accompanied by a large group of braves.
"He's know Ano-Chee." Said She-Returns-From-War "Red fur and black hands don't make an Ano-Chee. He dresses and walks like a ghost hand."
"Apparently he refused to hand over his weapons." said Wooden Lance sternly. "What man comes in peace but won't lay down his blades?"
Scatterpod said "So far he's only used those blades to kill Onrapa raiders. We shouldn't make demands of one who has us in his debt."
Thundercloud, Wild Stallion and Sunset hurried up to Scatterpod to speak with her.
"You should have seen this guy fight!" says Wild Stallion "I've never seen anything like it."
Thundercloud said "He knows which end of those big knives to hold."
Sunset said "The Onrapa were almost on me when he arrived. Wild Stallion was doing his best to hold them off, but there were too many."
Wild Stallion added "I got one of them!"
Thundercloud rolled his eyes "Yeah, you contributed, let's throw you a party." He turned back to Scatterpod "This foreigner says he's from the Red Earth tribes, says he's come to speak to you to get guidance."
She-Returns-From-War said "Those witless Red Earth fools should solve their own problems..."
Scatterpod raised a hand to silence her, and then walked forward to meet the stranger.
He looked tense, keeping one hand on his swords handles, peering around him cautiously.
Scatterpod said "I'm Scatterpod, of the Bronzewood tribe. You saved my daughter from those marauders and so you have my thanks."
The stranger nodded "I am Tsai-Chong, son of Wan-Tal...and Soaring Vasp, of the Red Earth Tribe."
Scatterpod's eyes lit up "Tsai-Chong? Really? Come closer."
She placed her hands on the strangers cheeks and pulled his face closer to examine it.
Tsai-Chong held his arms out to the surprised in a slightly panicked surprise.
Scatterpod opened his jaw to peer into his mouth.
Scatterpod says "I knew your mother well, she was a great woman. I can see her spirit in you."
She leaned forward and hugged him, causing him to peer around in confused desperation, not knowing how to react to this sudden physical contact.
"Erm..." he stumbled to think of something to say "She speaks highly of you too?"
When Scatterpod released him, she smiled broadly.
"Good, I hope she's still well. What brings you too us here?"
"I've come seeking spiritual council. I thought learning of my fathers culture might help give me understanding. The shamans of my own tribe thought you could help me."
Thundercloud scoffed "YOU'RE tribe? His mother isn't even Ano-Chee! This is ridiculous. He isn't one of us."
Scatterpod turned and scowled "Thundercloud! Silence!" She looked back to Tsai-Chong "Forgive his rudeness. The young sometimes forget their place and speak out of turn."
Thundercloud looked down on his feet irritably at such a dressing down from his mother.
Scatterpod continued "I can only offer guidance to you, Tsai-Chong, to show you the paths that lay before you. But from that, perhaps you will be able to gain the insight you are seeking."
