Other than the fact its not my job to try and make their game work, what happens if I go to a shop to play? Or a games club? A lot of people play with people they don't know, so they are going to really struggle. And all those tournament players will have to fuck right off.
And worst of all, even if you do balance it...it still isn't much fun.
Its not like simple games are all boring. Heroscape is bad ass and it is way simpler than Age of Sigmar. It's a game you can play with your kids but there is still a ton of strategy to master and its generally pretty well balanced. It also uses a warscrolls style system where you get the rules with each pack of models.
So I am not just being a grump who hates this stuff on principle. I've got a huge box of hero scape up stairs that shows a simpler game can appeal to me. But you have to actually but a bit of effort into making it!

posting because Heroscape. because yeah, Heroscape was awesome. had issues with that magical packing system thing they did to the box but yeah! I can't really say anything on Sigmar that hasn't already been said I think...

I'd say that balance is, at this point, not particularly important when compared to, say, making sure things don't blob.
My suggestion would be to allow for different formations and those formations should add elements and advantages to gameplay. That might already be the case, actually.
But it is kinda looking like Rome 2 at launch. There is potential, but the bugs and such make it not particularly playable... at least that is what is coming from the community.
For instance, I agree that it is up to GW to really balance it. I don't think the community should have to. I meant that in my previous post, but it wasn't exactly clear.

Space Marine statues in the store? Awesome On that note: Warhammer World (The main base of operations for GW used to have a Space Marine statue outside their building: They recently replaced it (and the imperial eagle on the building) with Age of Sigmar equivalents: Then, Mantic Games who are run by ex-Gw staff, and are the biggest competitor to Warhammer released this on their twitter account:

I've got a question. These Stormcast Eternals... they aren't Space Marines. So, presumably, there is no narrative reason for them not to be female. Somebody needs to ask GW if there are female SCEs. Dear me, that acronym makes them sound like an STI.

Canuovae have 20 points for raising something me and Red Ned were talking about. Storm Cast Eternals were brave hero types who have been remade into super space marines. So there is no reason they couldn't be women. After all, since their bodies have been remade, being brave or noble would matter more than any previous physical ability.
Putting female models in the starter set would have shaken things up. Female chaos warriors would be bad ass.
It would be a good way to get some attention. People would stop and looking just for the fact it's something new. I've seen big armoured dudes before. Make half of them women and you've got something different.
But this is GW, so I know for a fact they literally never even considered that idea. The models are 100% male because that's all GW ever does. In the Grim Darkness of the future there is is only a sausage fest.
I found another woman in the 40K background. In the Badab war background, a group of rogue traders start the war inadvertently and fuck things up before all their ships get wiped out and they play no futher part. These useless idiots are, of course, led by a woman. Everyone else in the war is a bad ass (and has a penis...what a coincidence.)
Oh GW!

An asexual sausage fest. The best kind.
I just got a thought. Can you imagine female chaos warriors? Can GW? Can anyone? Has there ever been a female person of chaos who was not a sultry sorceress, wizened hag, or a demonette of Slanesh? Come to think of it, I've seen one picture of a female Lord of Change floating around, but there was no lore attached.

I think it depends on your view of 'boob plate'. If you hate it, then women and men in armour look pretty much the same: Lady Knight Breanne of TarthSo you could argue that any of your knights are women with their helmets on, or just put a female models head on any knight. Most model manufacturers want to emphasis that their model is a woman, and in most cases that means sexying them up by emphasising an hourglass body, thigh high boots or boob plate (some more than others). You're more likely to see chaos models that are women like these: Chaos Chick 1 Chaos Chick 2Heres a female chaos sorceror from the warhammer MMO: Concept Art 1 Concept Art 2The sigmarites have a sculpted male body, you could make some more feminine without going full hog sexyness, but with GW apparently taking the 'sexy' models out of their range - The removal of Slannesh from fantasy etc. then I think they would just be conservative and not go near any female models.

This is definitely true with plate mail, and mail generally, actually, though mail rings might give a slight hint of a female figure if the woman in question was particularly curvy, but not very much. So technically, female Chaos Warriors are possibly already in game. But my thought was that the Stormcast Eternals' armour makes them definitely seem male given the musculata kind of look of them. Not identical, of course, and the double layer is and... interesting choice. Not exactly classical plate. But you can tell that is meant to be male. Though also... I'm not really sure about the practicality of that armour. Good luck lifting that maul over your head for a downward strike, and I'm pretty sure that blades will have an easier time lodging themselves in some of those nooks and crannies. Hell, its practically male boobplate. Have... have we considered the possibility that the reason all the really buff manly warriors from GW are like this is because someone at the top is gay? Nothing wrong with them being gay, of course, but this would make a bit more sense if so... Also, Slanneshies are gone? Hahah! Fuckers! The Elves outlasted you this time you perverted little clawed freaks!

I was asking more in context of Warhammer lore and art in general, rather than the models themselves, since I don't really know much about those. I remember there were some woman knights, but when it comes to the opposite side, I just can't recall anything. And Chaos warriors probably tend to have really exaggerated armor, like the model in Can's post.

Lore wise, I'm not sure if there are female Chaos Chosen or not. I would suspect yes, but then again... this is GW. As for Chaos Armour... The pauldrons are pretty ridiculous, and there are horns and spikes everywhere... but for the most part that isn't too bad. I mean, the chestplate is at least solid and looks like it could deflect attacks. Much better than the Stormcast Eternal. On the other hand, there is no wrist movement at all with that band that goes entirely around the wrist. Not cool, not cool at all.

It needs symmetry, he needs a second spiked nipple plate.

Maybe.
Also... that might actually be part of her pauldrons.
That is a "her" until I decide not. Because fuck it, it could be.

So this Chaos woman has a single spiked tit.
My call for symmetry still stands.
