Okay, I could have put this under the harkovast comic section, but I thought it was funniest to put it here.
What is your least favourite race in Harkovast and why?

As in, which one you personally hate, or which one you think is worst designed?

Both! Everyone do both. Though clearly the answer will be "None, we love them all" from everyone. I am really just giving you all the chance to praise how great I am.
Let the hark worship begin!

Junlocks. Bet you thought I'd say The Tendu, eh?
Not because they're badly developed, or such, but because everyone here thinks they're great. Thinks they're so great because bad shit happens to them. BUT then they conveniently excuse how nasty the Junlocks are. So sympathetic, are they? Then why are they known as bandits throughout Vellastrom? Sure, some of them were pushed to it, and not all of them are, but enough of them are to give them a reputation!
Don't forget that they're also Republicans. They hate gay people, don't like the mixing of the races because it is somehow less pure, and are incredibly individualist.
Alright... so it isn't really that I dislike them, and they're really quite interesting, but I do find it funny how everyone jumps on the "we love Junlock" train essentially because they're wolves.
But I guess that doesn't actually count as "liking them the least."
That leaves the Tendu? No, I actually kinda like the Tendu in a bizarre way.
The Tolpish society is probably the least likeable, but I think that makes them an interesting race. So in that sense, I "like" them.
The Tsung-Dao? Life and Steel is wasted on shitty sword design like that? Nah. They're a little bland, but Chen Chen is so awesome she makes up for everything.
The Nymus are pretentious shits, but their religion and the priests are great, even if they really are kind of horrifying.
The Tahmus? Maybe the Tahmus, actually. It might have something to do with a growing dislike of Sparta. Sure the Tahmus aren't quite as bad actual Spartans, but next to the Tolpish are probably the nastiest society (apart from the West). And, being based on the Spartans, they feel like the fever dream of a blood thirsty fifteen year old. Having the women be in charge of practically everything, though, is actually a great twist on the subject matter.
Maybe the Vort and the Wah-Daq? If only because they have so far eluded me! Will think more about it.

That's a sound reason if you ask me, they're just big puppies, and some of them turn into ice Hulks when they get pissed off. I think I agree with Canuovea on a lot of these. The Tsung-Dao seem like okay people, they're likeable, but rather bland. Granted, you said that they strive to be bland, so it wouldn't work if their national pastime was street racing with histoo-drawn Ferraris. The Tolpish are slave-driving twats who seem to have far fewer redeeming qualities than the Ivos, and I'm not a big fan of the Ivos to begin with. The Nymus are fucking terrifying. Just think about it from the perspective of someone who's never heard of a Nymus before. They have two legs and two arms, like anyone else, except they've got a pair of wings sprouting from their backs, they have beaks, they eat rocks with their meals, and they lay eggs. That sounds fucking scary, it's just plain unnatural, and if you were that person who is ignorant of Nymus existence, you'd probably think the guy telling you was taking the piss out of you, out of his mind, or had accidentally visited hell. Also the feathery arms, I think they'd be better off with arms like their lower legs, scaled and shit. But the beaks! Birds produce different sounds using the syrinx, this sort of bird-only vibrating voice box analogue, and since Nymus don't have lips they'd have to rely on something similar to speak with other races. Imagine having a conversation with a Nymus, they'd probably just stand there with their beak open, producing words somehow. It'd be like they had a speaker in the back of their throat. So that brings us to the Tahmus. They're just as creepy as the Nymus, but they're slave-owning Spartans. Do the Tahmus have laws requiring them to beat their slaves to make sure they know their place in society? Do they have a coming of age ritual where Tahmus boys creep about murdering slaves? Whether or not they do, they're still assholes. About the only good thing I can say about the Tahmus is that they don't have feathered arms and hands. I don't even know why that bothers me so much, but it just seems like it would be more practical (imagine trying to grip stuff with feathers on your palms!).

They dont have feathery palms. The palms are skin, like with the furry races. Just to clear that up!

But do they have talons?
How about speaking? Are they as creepy as I said? I bet they are, I bet they're creepier than I even know!

I mean, if it is "whose culture do I dislike the most?"
Tolpish and Tahmus. Because fuck those guys.
If it is "which race is just... bad and needs changes the most?" I dunno.
Which culture would I like to live in most/least?
From best to worst (I'm not doing every race, just an outline):
Eslum (Cingdoro specifically), Nymus (urgh, but they're argumentative and such, even if they're too fucking ritualized), Tendu (food, food everywhere), Tsung-Dao (boring, but stable at least), Ano-Chee, Darsai, Ivos, Zadakine, Al-Saigal, Brorg-Dao (I can barely stand modern jocks, these guys are that x1000), and Golta (could be higher if they weren't so fucking paranoid and depending on how Robert Frosty I'm feeling). For the definitely NOPE side: Tolpish then Tahmus. At least the Tolpish have some degree of social mobility based on merit in a really weird fucked up way. The Tahmus though... not only are they are oppressive and horrible, but you can't get out of it.

I'd have to say Toplish, Ivos and Tahmus culturally due to their widespread use of slavery. Regarding the more hateful parts of Junlock culture, did those exist before the Ivos started causing them problems? I know their fluff attributes their hatred of Half-Castes and homosexuality to the Ivos but I'm wondering if that was just an excuse they came up with later.

Yeah, actually thinking about it might put the Ivos as being worse than the Zadakine because of the gladiator stuff.
Races that do use slaves... in addition to the Ivos, Tahmus, and Tolpish...
Tendu probably have the most, but seem less brutal about it. Brorg-Dao have them, I'm pretty sure. Komus probably. Foshtor and Kumaru may, but I don't really think so. Gotetra, obviously. Actually, slavery isn't as widespread as I thought it would be. Most in Vellastrom just don't do it. That being said, most of Jaydia does.

I'd forgotten about the Tendus when I made the other list (I suppose with me it boils down to "if they don't see slavery as unacceptable, I'm likely to have issues with them").

Funny thing is the Tendu are generally less warlike than the other nations in Jaydia... but they can still fight really well.

Interestingly, it seems slavery is peoples main objection, rather than gender equality, treatment of gays or whether the nation is really warlike. It's curious what pushes peoples buttons.

Keep in mind, I put the Tendu as my third (I think) ranking for where I'd like to live.
