We've been looking at it, and we think we can get the price into the range of £20, if the game doesn't come with a box and just has bits for two players.
Puttng it in a box is surprisingly expensive, so we are thinking of making that a pledge thing on any crowd funding thing we do.
Potentially we could do a version with no dice or counters, and just the cards.
The only problem is, doing lots of options fucks up efforts to bulk price discounts which we were hoping to use kickstarter to utilise.
Obviously, I would advise getting the full game because its cool, but we want to account for different people wanting different stuff if we can.

From my point of view, a reasonable approach would be to start with a single, boxed option that will make it easy to sell the game in stores and what-have-you with bulk discounts.
Then once you start releasing expansions, you could make a "2 player base set" with just the cards and no box. If expansions are also just cards without a box, it would make sense, right?

2 Player base set?
Okay, I'm just confused now and will wait to see what is on sale.

The two player set I just described would be absolute bare bones, without pieces other than cards (that wasmy understanding from red ned, I will talk to him more tommorrow.) There
The game wont be available in shops, you will have to order it online. I think I need to make clear what a small operation this is! Its literally just me and Red Ned behind this, it wont have any kind of big wide release because we aren't a games company. We are just two guys making a game we like and we think you might like.
We are looking at options for how stripped down we can make it to make it affordable, but we may be limited in how many versions we can make.

So long as there is going to be a "here is everything, including all expansions" kind of set that I can buy.

Don't worry! The complete everything included set will deffinitey be an option. It may have to be a bas set and then you can buy all the expansions rather than coming bundled, but an option to get everything (known as "the correct option") will exist.

Its literally just me and Red Ned behind this, it wont have any kind of big wide release because we aren't a games company. We are just two guys making a game we like and we think you might like. Online shops are also shops It's just that Red Ned mentioned boardgamegeek.com and as I understand you're going to sell it somehow, so I wrote "stores and what-have-you" to mean "any way you're planning to sell it, promote it, or anything involved in the process". In any case, it does seem like something more than just a small operation. Small operations usually involve someone posting a pdf and telling "Hey, I made this game, print it and play it as you will". Usually such games use free art found on the internet, and often take less than a month to make. What I see here is a pretty big investment of time and effort. Yet I don't see too many people who would be interested in buying it, so I was just wondering if you are planning to somehow target also people who don't follow the comic, and aren't active members of the Harko-community. Otherwise it just seems like a huge investment just to make a game that would be played by a dozen people. Who are spread all over the world, which means many of them would not be able to play with another Harko-fan, unless they convert some of their friends into Harko-fans. Oh wait, now I see the big picture! It's how you plan to take over the world! ... you have my full support

We made it so we could play it with each other; Red_Ned, myself and our friends. Making a game is fun and we realised we could make the whole thing along with counters and real cards etc as an actual physical thng we could purchase, rather than cheaply made things off red_neds printer.
I then suggested we could use that same service to make it available to other people. This is not some get rich quick scheme. The profit on each copy of the game will be very small. If we wanted to make money, designing a game based on my webcomic would not be the way to go!
It's will be available to you guys because if we make it available to us we can make it available to you at no extra cost.
We want you to purchase it because we think its really good and we want other people to enjoy the thing we made.
But even if none or just a couple of you guys are interested, we'd still have a copy for ourselves that we would be pleased with. We play this game loads so it would be great to have a proper set (I've been on a winning streak lately, Red_ned's strangle hold on winning the game has been broken!)
It's a really cool game and I think those of you that buy it will be pleasantly surprised. But if you don't think its your kind of thing or you can't afford it, thats fair enough.
This is the frst thing from Harkovast that we've asked money for (the comic and forum all being free, you lucky people!) so we are really determined to make it as good as we possibly can, and we've been pouring over all aspects of it (rules, card layout, art) to make it a quality product.
Though we will get paid a small amount of profit on each game we are unlikely to make back what we put into it, but the same can be said of the comic. It aint free to make and it aint free to host!
But not everything in life has to be about making a buck.

The idea for the game came because I found a website that does 'print on demand' game pieces. This meant it was feasible to print cards on proper card stock (something which I can't do at home!).
Because they print on demand, the cost of the game is higher if you buy one set at a time because they are printed individually, but it's about the same as a proper, published game. This was fine by us, because it's a game we made that we enjoy playing, but we can't really ask people to spend as much as they would on a premium product by an established company because we are 2 nobodies making a game with cheaper components.
Once the game is made on the website, you can open up the 'shop' to everyone, so other people can buy the game you've made, but because people would be buying one copy at a time then the cost is more expensive than if they printed off a lot of copies in a bulk order.
That was the original plan! One reason why I thought to make a 'Harkovast' game was because the art was all in the comic. The core game itself didn't take too long to make, but because we have now been playing it for years then the game has been extensively playtested and refined.
And Hark pointed out, people in real life asked if they could buy a copy of the game after playing it, and we thought maybe some people who follow the comic might enjoy it. Once we ask people to pay money for something we made then the stakes get higher! We can't ask you for something that we wouldn't pay for ourselves especially when a lot of the graphic design work is pretty cheap and easy to make but makes the final product look a lot more professional.
The time and investment into the game, rules card and art and everything is already spent – we did this for fun! The original plan was to have the game just for ourselves, but making it available to everyone is not that much of a next step.
And I would really like there to be some way to play the game online, whether it's OCTGN or any of a number of other programs and because the game and everything is made, converting it to an online game shouldn't be an impossible task.

I think StyxD was considering working on an online version, or maybe someone else as well.

Yep, it was me. But at this point I have no idea when I'll get to it. I suppose it could happen next year. So if someone else starts working on it, please let me know.
