For a bit of fun, I used a random generator space marine chapter generator from a 40K rpg, and then filled in the gaps to make up a space marine chapter.
I randomly generated all the details about them with various online generations sites.
I then saw some cool 3D printable designs for space marine ships and one thing lead to another.
Here is the end result-
THE ROYAL SONS
The Royal Sons were formed to guard the Hive World of Heynus and the forge worlds near to it.
They have performed this task dutifully, keeping the worlds safe but seeing little action outside of this area.
Heynus is a barren world with little atmosphere. The population live in vast hive cities that are sealed from the outside desolation.
The Royal Sons recruit exclusively from the planets ruling elite, and this informs their culture.
The Chapter do not know who their primarch is, the information having been lost into the mist of time, and studies of their gene seed show it has been adjusted from the baseline, making identification impossible.
The Royal Sons venerate their primarch, despite not knowing his identity and consider all space marines their honoured brothers, as potentially they might share they same founder.
However, the chapter are elitest towards normal humans, considering them peasants who need to keep out of the way and "know their place". They hold particular disregard for the Imperial Navy, who they consider a broken down, ramshackle organisation of incompetent crews and rusted vessels.
The Royal Sons are rarely shy about expressing their opinions on these matters.
Due to their isolation and seeing relatively limited action, combined with their good relations with local forge worlds has allowed the Royal Songs to amass a very powerful fleet, including an ancient Gloriana class battle ship, whose origins are unknown.
One strange trait of the chapter is their obsessive hatred for all xenos.
While wishing to destroy the alien is a good and moral position for any right thinking human, the Royal Sons take this to a strange extreme that can be disturbing.
When in the presence of xenos Royal Sons marines have been known to go into a berserk frenzy, attempting to destroy the alien by any means available. Even alien prisoners who were considered valuable have been beaten to death in sudden unprovoked outbursts by Royal Sons Marines.
Some speculate the Royla Sons altered Gene Seed may be the cause of this strange behaviour, but the Son's themselves see nothing odd in this conduct.
And explanation of "I felt righteous fury and had to kill the alien" is considered completely acceptable under most circumstances.
The chapter dressed in gold armour with purple trim and their iconography is white symbols of lions, often wearing crowns.
With new threats assailing the galaxy, this largely forgotten chapter has been given a new mandate to take the fight to the enemy.
The Royal Sons will not rest while a single foul xenos still lives!
