The theatrical aspect of Price's version lends quite a bit to it. Lee's is very good too.
I think I'd have to go with Price. There's something about his voice that just drools Poe.

I'm torn between Lee and Price too.

I'm very Vincent biased, so I kinda have to go that way.
I wonder if Morgan Freeman ever read it? I wonder if that would be any good?

Speaking of Price and The Raven. Vincent made a number of screen adaptations of Poe's work, with varying degrees of success. The Raven was easily the most bizarre, taking almost nothing from the poem and turning it into some sort of fantasy adventure.
That being said, as a child I simply adored the final fight scene between Price and Boris Karloff.
Yes, I realize it doesn't hold up well, but when I was a child this was as good as it got outside of a Disney cartoon.
Also, if you look closely you might recognize someone who later becomes very famous.

I love this stuff.
Note how Shaka basically reinvents certain Roman tactics...

So what I learned from this video is that kissing back in the 40s and 50s was either a painful mashing of closed lips together, difficult to actually see happen, or involved the man attaching himself like an octopus sucker to the woman's chin (and maybe chewing a bit).

A classic example of that is any Star Trek episode where Kirk kisses a chick (which I think is all of them).
I think on screen kisses were regulated by censorship codes at that time, which I think said there couldn't be any tongue or open mouth kisses.

I think you're right. And apparently before that censorship was instituted, things had gotten pretty raunchy.
