History. They hate it. And I hate what these people are and represent. They are the Imam from Rushdie's "The Satanic Verses."

What's the economic impact that the bible has had on Tennessee?
And what's with all of these official state things? Why would they need official state rocks, or amphibians? Is that a joke?

I'm not at all surprised that they want to call the bible their "official book", while claiming they're not doing it to endorse Christianity, but I can't really wrap my head around endorsing all kinds of random crap as "official state" this or that.

It does get rather silly.

I think the official state *insert random item* is kind of an identity thing. I think it started with state birds, cuz the US had the bald eagle and the states all wanted their own symbol. That didn't work out quite well because numerous states picked the same birds as their state bird (7 states have the northern cardinal, 6 have the western meadowlark, etc). So they started picking other animals (state reptile, state mammal, state amphibian) and moved on to other things (state gemstone, state dinosaur, state snack food).
Also it gives the state representatives something to vote on and justify their existence.

Of course, these same idiots would be the first ones screaming that the federal government had neutered the military if something happened because troops didn't have enough training.
In any other First World nation, if the military said they were going to run exercises in X location for X amount of time to train for X situation, people would go along with it (for example, my father invaded an island around here as part of a training exercise at one point, and no one thought the government was teaching sailors how to kidnap whole seaside communities). There are other places in the US (sane places clearly) that are okay with the US military showing up every year, every couple of years, and training.
Clearly the governor sending state troops to breath down the necks of the federal troops is some paranoid posturing. I wonder though, if he decided he didn't like it and wanted to do something, could he do something?
Is it even legal for a state government to tell the federal government to fuck off and take the army with them?
Why do they think the government needs to bring in troops to impose martial law? There's over a dozen military bases in the state, there have to be thousands of troops permanently stationed in Texas.

Don't think she's one of a few, there's a lot of people out there who hate cops for being cops.

Leave it.
Let conservatists boil in their own stew, shaking their heads more and more at what they know progressiveness and how delusional liberals eschew the obvious truth.

Wow, that was kinda ironic. As much as that douche liked to bang on about how ugly he finds this woman (and that seems to be his main argument as far as I can tell, that he finds it icky) I spent most of the article being horrified by the ugliness of what he was expressing. It was like watching a man covered in raw sewage screaming about everyone elses body odour.
Feminism can't coexist with transgender people? Ummm...yeah...it can....cause it does.
Its not like, say, reading the blaze as a serious news source and not being a fuck wit. THOSE are things that can't go together.
And his final point, that the measure of a woman is whether men want to fuck her...wow. Just wow. Well I am confident after reading that, most women would never want to sleep with this ass hole...does that mean hes not male anymore? I'm struggling to believe he's a human so it wouldn't that big a leap.

There is a nugget of truth in that there has been some tension between certain feminist groups and some transgender people. But overall that is a terrible terrible misconstruction of what feminism represents, which isn't really a surprise when you think about it.
But that struck me too. The measure of your identity (as a woman) is whether or not men would marry you. Wow. Just ridiculous.
