That is a rather peculiar set of morality. While I admire the ability to be so dedicated to the idea of forgiveness, I'm not sure if I, myself, find that actually moral.

It's not like they're saying he should be let go. He's going to face justice (which in SC is a very dire sort of justice), but they're not going to live in the hate. Which is very commendable.

Well I suppose that is therapeutic for them. Better than wanting to strangle the man's entire family with their bare hands every second of the day.
Hard to know how one will really react if put in a similar situation, I must admit, so who knows? I'm not even sure I know how I'd like to think I'd react in a situation like that.

If it isn't the pedo priests it's the militants, and if it's not the militants, it's the centuries of evil shenanigans-*sighes*...

I'm curious about what some people make of this:

The thing is when you talk "immigration" in the US you're usually just talking about Latinos. This is actually something that has been with us since the beginning of the country. Whoever is the most recent flood of immigrants tend to stir up debate. Scotts, Germans, Italians, Polish, Jews, Chinese, etc. They've all had their moment in history of being part of the immigration debate. "What do we do about this? They're gonna destroy the country!" We're still here. The only real difference is these people can just walk across the border. Canadians do this too, just not in the same number so we don't talk aboot them.
"Damn, Canucks! Takin' our jobs!"
Maybe there is a big conspiracy. Maybe the left wants open boarders to change the voting population and maybe the right wants open boarders for cheap labor. Maybe everyone wants to destroy the country. I donno. What I do know is the country is pretty fucking awesome, (Yeah, I know, I'm biased) it must be if all these folks wanna be here. What I also know is that Latinos (like everyone else in the world) are also pretty fuckin' awesome. They work hard, they're friendly and they don't complain. Do they have a higher rate of criminal behavior? Sure, but the same could be said for all the previous floods. If we survived all of them we can survive this too.

When people say cheap labor, I keep imagining how places like Egypt (and probably Rome) were built with Slave labor.
Aside from that, this country is pretty awesome. Yeah we got flaws, everyone does.

Where did you hear about Latinos having a higher crime rate, Word? I'm curious due to reading a while back that Latinos are much more likely to be stopped and searched by the police but are much less likely to be found with evidence of criminal activity (this was mentioned in a Nation States forum post and I can't remember what source the original poster used). Regarding the lack of fuss over Canadians, that could largely be due to cultural similarities combined with the higher living standards meaning them being less likely to drive wages down in America (regarding your comments about why both The Right and The Left are in favour of this sort of thing, you're probably right about both of them; letting everyone into the UK in order to "run the Right's face in diversity" was something Blair appeared to want to do (www.standard.co.uk/news/dont-listen-to-the-whingers--london-needs-immigrants-6786170.html), and I've read claims that the current economic "boom" is mostly down to large amounts of cheap labour, which is probably why Cameron isn't too concerned with reducing immigration).

Part of it is that the Canadians tend to have a certain level of disdain for Americans, and think their country is backwards. So why go there? We've got universal healthcare up here for crying out loud.
I'm not kidding. I know an American immigrant who some Canadians threw a rock at just for being American. Of course, that was back in the good old Bush days when the USA looked like the Evil Empire from Star Wars. But still.
As for the video, the reason I posted it was that, well... Ann Coulter is pretty terrible, but she came out looking pretty good here. Not so much that she was right, but that she was able to present reasons for what she was saying, but everyone else wouldn't let her finish or simply fell back on talking points in an effort to avoid facing her actual points. That was depressing.

...To be honest, I heard about that thing and it sounded crazy optimistic that the robot would even GET to it's destination... Though outfit that thing with a GPS, make a bunch of em for cheap, then 'release' them as a psychology experiement!

I'm actually surprised it made it that far without someone suspecting it was a bomb.
