Brorg-Dao believe that the brave and heroic warriors will be allowed to live amongst the gods after death in Brorg-Holm, the home of the gods. Cowardly, evil people will be left to wander the cold and desolate waste land that surrounds Brorg-Holm, a place shrouded in ghosts and shadows.

Hrrm... So, an idea I had for the upcoming book 3 RPG was this concept of a Brorg-Dao who wielded what basically was a thunder-axe via a combination of material components and lightning magic. Basically, I went wiki-ing for that stuff, and basically found this article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PiezoelectricityLong story short, if this could be a thing, could it work for the Brorg-Dao or any race with thunder magic? And perhaps a bit more on-topic- do these guys believe in valkyries?

Hmm I hadn't thought about Valkyries, but it seems like something they ought to have, doesn't it? I'll give it some thought.
And if you axe question was "Can I have an axe with lightning on it?" then the answer is that I don't want to live in a world where you can't.

That is neat.
Something like that seems most likely to appear with Brorg-Dao or Gotetra (especially since there is a viking influence in both, kinda).

So... my horse can shock people with his axe? I can see that giving him a leg up against armoured opponents.

The problem with Valkyries is that Brorg-Dao are very gender neutral in the way they conduct things, so the idea of an all female group who serve brave warriors in the afterlife seems a bit inappropriate. Maybe if they had a male equivalent...

I've got some more ideas to add to this, which might shake things up a bit. Gimme some time to think things through and I'll post more shortly.

Brorg-Dao have a complex naming system. Each Brorg-Dao has a first and last name, the first being their given name. The second part is made up of one parents name (the father for men, the mother for women) with the suffix "son" for males or "dottir" for females added to the end. The Brorg-Dao take great pride in their lineages and failing to know who your parents were or having parents who reputation was shameful would be a source of great disgrace to them. To further complicate things, Brorg-Dao sometimes take on honourific titles in place of their last name. These are generally designed to sound fearsome and speak of their mighty reputations, such as "Doomslayer", "Thunderblood", "Blacktooth" or "Gutspiller." Though anyone can use a nickname, only a high ranking noble has the authority to grant someone a title as an official last name, which is considered a great honour.
The Brorg-Dao religion focuses mainly on trying to ascertain the will and intentions of the various Gods, often for the purpose of avoiding storms and navigating the seas successfully. Soothsayers, the priest class of the Brorg-Dao, perform grisly rituals dismembering animals and inspecting their innards or killing creatures as offerings to the gods. Through this strange magic, they can gain insights into weather patterns and ocean currents, and the Brorg-Dao believe sometimes other aspects of the future. They may also caste small stones or pieces of bone, carved with runes and study their positions to seek guidance for the future. Some of these practices have carried over to Ivos and Junlock religions, who sometimes perform similar rituals in the attempts to gain insights.
The Brorg-Dao believe that the Gods are served by an army of immortal, winged warriors, known as Valkyrie (for females) and Einherjar (for males). They carry the souls of worthy warriors who fall in battle to Brorg-Holm. Occasionally, a Brorg-Dao is born with bat like wings on their back. The Brorg-Dao consider this a good omen and the child to have the spirit of one of the immortal warriors of the gods. A winged Brorg-Dao is a relatively clumsy flier, more like a less graceful version of the swooping of the average Nymus with a lot more flapping, but even so they have superior mobility, especially when leaping from a high place.

What? Some of them have got wings now?!
So we're making it official. They're dragons. Awesome.
Also, I assume they've been shouting thunder and lightning at people before Bethesda created Skyrim?

Hrrm. Well, IDK if this would be considered the same as shouting thunder at people...But one concept I toyed with before abandoning (If I was going to go this magic-heavy I might as well just go for straight-up playing a mage of this race, instead of being sorta-not really a mage) was the idea of a thunder spitter-use water magic to enhance a spitball into a dart of sorts, charged with electricity from the thunder magic. I've been mulling it over what fun things I could do with water/thunder magic but I didn't come up with much aside from the already existing 'Sea Witch', some hermit that got to the point she/he? could actually create storms at sea (And maybe on land, dunno really) and used them to devastating effect. But the whole body-carving/casting lots for weather works too.

I've been trying to work out how to have ones with bat wings for a while. The mention by Zaealix of Valkyrie set the wheels in motion.

Regarding Skyrim, I bought it a while back but have yet to play it, so I have no idea what anyone is on about with that.

It's fun, but overrated. It really shines with mods though.
If you're not familiar with the game at all, the dragon's language actually has physical effects, and the protagonist can speak the dragon's language (this allows them to breath fire, freeze things, summon storms, or attack people with a shockwave).

You don't get to be a big lizard dude with bat wings, do you? It's still a shouty human I think.
