You can be a lizard (no wings though) or a cat. Or one of several races of elves.
The problem is (unlike in previous games) there are very few real differences between the various races. Some have racial perks that can be replicated with magic, but overall I think the main differences are minor starting bonuses to some stats, which only really matter early in the game since you can max out anything with magical kit and/or training.

Argonians are lizards. Some have horns. You could start doing that shouting (including a pushing type force shout, or a fire shout etc).
Khajit are cats, and there is a set of magic that lets you summon kinda see through weapons.
I'll have to do that, and take some screenies for you all.
Also, some mods add foxes/fennecs people, wolf people, and bunny people. And if you wanted wings on your lizard, you could add that via some mod.

Oh yeah I know this game! Everyone keeps telling me they made Sir Muir in it. Even though I'm told its not a very optimal build, its cool that you can.

There are mods that make it an optimal build... I'm sure.
I play with mods. Lots of mods.

I think the game only really shines when you use mods.
Especially ones that replace the ridiculous fucking bows with realistic-looking bows.

I've heard a few people complaining about the weapons being impractical and mods for that. When I play I will have to get the most ridiculous, overly spiked nonsense axe ever designed!

To clarify a little, mortal Valkyrie and Einherjar do not have a specific role in Brorg-Dao society or religion (unlike a Truthsayer or Nymus priestess), but are more of a good omen or good luck charm. Lords want to keep them around as a sign of their favour with the Gods and personal wealth, explorers want them along on trips for good luck, armies feel better marching with them along.
There is potential for them to become quite spoiled and lazy living off the charity of others without really contributing, while some of them want to be taken seriously and seen as more than just a good luck charm to tag along.

The new book is going to be in the Brorglands? If I knew, I might have put off playing a Tsung-Dao till then. I find the relation between Daos to be quite an interesting one. Even Rin-Xien's extremely short run-in with a Varangian was pretty thrilling. Plus, a Tsung-Dao could use their marital arts to ward off Brorg-Dao affectionate gestures.
But now I also want to play a lizard with wings. How come Brorg-Dao even get those?
Those 149 gods... and odd number. Perhaps significant. Are those beings demons? Is the Missing One the Sea Witch? Or that Tang guy from Tsung-Dao legends? Or KitW himself?
Having finally read the description of the race... they're really cool. In fact, they might become one of my favourite races now, I wouldn't have thought it possible before. But I guess I still have the viking-based culture from "A Song of Ice and Fire" (which is without any redeeming qualities and is the closest you can get to Tolkien's orcs in a world inhabited mostly by morally grey humans) fresh in my memory.

I think the 150th is a god of rain. Not sure where Tang-Roth fits into it, but I doubt the Brorg-Dao worship it, their ancestors had to leave their home because of demon worship after all.

I recall Hark's reaction to this being "why does there always have to be round numbers with you lot!?" Or something like that.
Why couldn't there just be 149?

Nine is always a promise. Always.
That or a really annoying thing to put on a price tag.

Even numbers are a must, unless it's something that can be easily divided by 3 or 5.

Psh. You're all numbers nazis, you are.
There is beauty in asymmetry and indivisibility. Clearly the Brorg-Dao appreciate that!
Watch... Hark is going to be like: "There was another god, but the Brorg-Dao killed him/her in the war"

"The gods are careful not to insult the Brorg-Dao!" As Harkovast wrote, I think... Besides, it's very well possible that they've got that myth where Bauldur-Dao died to boot, sooo...
