I rarely play a game I can both love and hate so much at the same time. it's controls can be bad as the game doesn't register what I'm pressing (this normally happening using the hidden blade and free running) plus so many fucking tailing missions (so far anyway, haven't beaten) and I fucking hate tailing missions with a passion. But all this being said I can't bring myself to just be done with it because playing a pirate is awesome, I love the ship battles and just sailing the ship around, the game just seems to turn something on in me that has me enjoying it and I don't know what.

I haven't played it, but I heard that the best part is, in fact, the ship stuff. An example of adding something new in a video game... that works!

it's honestly the only thing that keeps me playing it. I have no interest in the main story because every fucking mission is almost some form of tailing mission so I'm quick to get angry and stop having fun
i think Ubisoft should make a straight pirate game, Black Flag's ship fighting stuff is already awesome so I can just imagine how much more amazing it could be if it was ther focus of a game

I remember my brother thought this is pretty much what Assassins Creed 3 would've been, given how much pirate stuff the trailers showed off. As it stands though, 3 was an absolute trainwreck from everything I've heard and while the ship parts were the best parts in it, they were so few and far between that it really wasn't worth dealing with all the broken mechanics and numerous glitches.
My brother pretty much said he was done with Assassins Creed after that, it was pretty disappointing too since even I was looking forward to it, and I'm not even a huge fan of the series.
So they pretty much took the best part of that game and made it the main feature of this game...which they just should've done in the first place.

I honestly hated the ship mechanics in 3. That's the main reason I've avoided 4.
