for starters I enjoyed Dark Knight Returns, it was enjoyable to read and over all I liked it, I don't see why some people thinks it's hands down amazing, honestly Millers earlier Daredevil: Born Again, hit a lot of the same themes far better and over all the tone of the set world comes off better in Watchmen but really it's still a great story and hits all the right places.
now what followed it in 2002 is by far the most ugly and boring comic I have ever had the misfortune to read, honestly I rather go through Crossed again, at less the art doesn't look like a scribbled mess. DK2 for me failed firstly with the art, it is a mess and just makes you want to look away from the page and cringe with how ugly everything looks.
Now of corse art I can forgive, even the original had it's ugly art moments but at less it had good writing to draw away from it, but oh no not this shit because the story is bland and just a continue of themes that don't go anywhere and boring character interaction. it relies on yet again all the same themes that come with most Miller stories, and while I can enjoy the themes knowing the time they came from with it being 2002 it just comes off as him having no original ideas. no joke one of the big things is that the government has put in place a robot president to run everything, fuckimg really?
and that's not even the worst character to come out of this, what he does with superman just sucks, no secret Miller doesn't like Superman and you know neither do I and I'll be the first to line up and shit on the character but when a writer just doesn't use him right, doesn't give him the normal superman characteristics like he should have and just work with making him the government drone Boy Scout I get upset, I don't think superman is a bad character I just think he's as boring as watching grass grow, but when you are just shitting on a character for the sake of shitting on a character your just being an ass. at less in the first one he comes off as alright bit now they go back to square one, yeah no thanks.
honestly just skip this garbage, it was so bad for me I don't even remember half the shit that's in it, biggest things that have stuck are some really horrid looking art and that's just sad.
yet another 25$ waste, stick with the original and skip over this eyesore you'll be glad you did.
