The key word in Ganobarros description of the sword is that the "point" ignores armour and shields. When the point hits something hard, it makes it act like water so the sword can pass through. If you chop with rapier it would strike like a normal sword, so could be blocked like a regular sword. Of course, If used to slash its still a very sharp weapon that can slice you up, but against cuts your armour and shield would work.
Senchos is both big and strong, and a very skilled swordsman, so combined with his magical blade he is a deadly opponent.
Ganobarro, of course, carries The Dagger Ash, which is probably even more dangerous. But that's for another time...

Alright, that makes sense then.

If it makes it act like water are the characteristics different below freezing?

Hahhah wow I never thought about that. Its water magic rather than actual water. So the things stabbed would still behave the same way regardless of temperature.
There are Eslum with magic to freeze things they hit. The monks and Velatoria can do that with the blows from their weapons.
Wait till you see what Ganobarro can do...next page, you are going to like it.

What if it strikes actual frozen water?
Such as, I don't know...
...a frost berserkers armor?

It would go ripply and let hte sword pass through, unless the magic was super strong and could stop it somehow. It wouldn't actually melt, in the same way the shield in the comic didn't melt into a liquid.

So when it does that water ripply thing to armor and shields, does it damage what it passes through? Does it leave a hole behind?

No, they go back to normal afterwards. He by passes them rather than damaging them.

Sooooo... if it passes through things without damaging them.
How does it kill?

It doesn't pass through flesh and living stuff. So it by passes clothes and armour but kills the person under it.

What about unliving stuff?

What about unliving stuff? Ooh! Good question.

Like stabbing a Threshoulder? That's a good question. It's not something I've considered, I don't think I would want to confirm the results of such a strange match up of different magical powers. Though I can say for certain that it wouldn't do you much good either way against The Fallen! Sticking swords in him is always pretty ineffectual.
