The Golta initially regarded the Nameless War with their typical disinterest; it was a Tolpish conflict in which their mecenaries would seek work, but nothing else.
However, this changed with the arrival of The Machine.
It had changed greatly since it had last set foot in the Golta Nation. It was now far more than any Golta...though also far less.
The power it now commanded caused misguided individuals to swear allegiance to The Machine in the hopes that it would bestow some of it to them. The Machine performed a strange ritual on the minds of it's disciples, making them as distant and unfeeling as it.
Soon this strange cult grew into a powerful army, reinforced by Nameless warriors from across the ocean.
With it's seemingly invincible leader, the disciples of the Machine threatened to overthrow the Golta Nation.
They were on the cusp on constructing their own Soul Furnaces when the Machine was finally defeated by a band of mighty heroes, leaving it a broken pile of wreckage in the courtyard in front of the Ruling Council's Chamber of Representatives.
With their master beaten, the disciples were left leaderless and confused, and the tide turned quickly against them.
Many who had not had their minds altered immediately deserted or changed sides, and the most important cult leaders were all quickly destroyed.
This caused the Golta to become directly involved in the war, accepting the guidance of Eldex and putting their warriors under allied command.
After the war, the Ruling Council was quick to downplay the contributions of foreigners to the nation's salvation, as well as the Golta's involvement in foreign conflicts.
But not everyone in the Golta Nation has forgotten the foreign assistance they received and it led many of those involved to question their nation's traditional attitude to their neighbours.
