A good point L Merlot made to me.... why the fuck do they even have slaves? they have robots! And based onteh way the trade federation uses them, robots are dirt chepa and easy to build. You dont have to feed them, or put bombs in their heads to stop them escaping or any other stupid shit. Watto is meant to be mean and cheap (and vaguly jewish just to make it seem kinda uncomfortably racist) why is the little blue turd wasting time nad money on some woman and her space jesus kid when he could just buy some robots to do the same work? Cheap sentient robots render slavery totally redundant.

I'm not actually sure Tatooine is really part of the Republic. They don't have a presence there, the place is ruled by a slug, and they don't even accept Republic currency.
Or maybe Quigon was going to go back for the mother, then he got killed. Though that is only speculation. It is something he might have done, given he didn't give a crap about the council.
And yeah, the seppies as a whole clearly get a bit of a raw deal. It would have been more balanced if the Seppy leadership wasn't so laughably evil.
Also, the mother thing is further proof of how dickish the Jedi are. All those younglings? They don't have their parents there. The Jedi are clearly rather cultish, and they take kids from their parents all the time. The fact that Quigon actually wants to take Anakin's mother with them at all makes him better than the entire Jedi order.
But yeah, Anakin and co really could have gone back to check up on here at some point... if the Jedi would have let them. Pretty sure they weren't keen on that.

In episode 1 there is a tank in the droid army, driven by robots. A robot commander peeps out of the hatch, looks through some binoculars and then shouts orders to the other droids.
Think about what I just described.
This is literally the goofiest army in the universe.

I guess the robots don't have any way of communicating other than by vocal commands.
But why did they all shut down when the ship was destroyed?

I've posted before how in RotS the movie starts out with a massive battle right over the heads of the senate and for some reason that didn't concern anybody at all. It would be like if the Nazi's had 10,000 ships sail into New York harbor and FDR came on the radio and told the American people how well his new home renovation was going.

So you've got a city where the citizens and government don't seem at all bothered by the war going on? Jesus, you'd think someone would've pointed out how awful that was.

It's actually WORSE than Wordweaver makes it sound.
FDR is taking a tour of new york when a surprise Nazi attack takes place. The nazis dont attack the city or cause any damage, they just rush up and grab FDR and try to run off with him, battling the US navy all the way.
This is literally the bad guys plan at the start of episode 3. They attack the giant capital world of the republic but instead of carpet bombing the giant plent wide cities, or blowing up the senate, or concentrating fire on the Jedi temple...they just grab Palpatine and try to leg it! Even if they had succeeded, what is this supposed to achieve? Palapatine is just an elected leader, he can be replaced! And its not like hes commanding the army (that would be the jedi.) Do they want him as a hostage? Do they expect the republic to back down becasue they point a gun at one poltician? Now you can give the excuse that Palpatine is manipulating things, but the Seperatists and General Grevous must have some idea as to why they just sent a giant battlefleet to attack the enemies capital to capture one guy! They must have some concept of the point behind their own tactics otehr than "guy in a cloak said so".
Also, wouldnt' Palpatine have ordered them to destroy the jedi temple while they were there? Wouldn't that have helped his plans along?
But no, lets go with the whole fake kidnap thing. Also, was it his plan to get rescued? What if the jedi had failed and the separatists had taken him off with them...what was he planning to do then?
Actually now I come to think about it, why would anyone do what Palpatine wants at this point? Is he paying them? Or are we to assume he mind controls them all? Cause if he can do that why bother with all these plots? Just mind control the senate to make himself emperor at the start.

When we first saw storm troopers, they seemed to be guys in just uniforms. Then in the prequals we learn that they are clones. Then everyone realise that didn't make any sense so they said they used to be clones but in the future aren't anymore.
Why introduce the concept if you are just going to have to come up with awkward explanations why it isn't actually the case in the future? Its not adding to our understanding, its actually mananging to diminish it!

The clone army was basically a quick fix. No need to assume the stormies are clones...
Except everyone kinda did. Me included. And then we were confused. And... yeah.

I think I can give them a pass on that point, because they recognized that it was stupid and did away with it. It was Lucas' fault anyway.

The thing with a lot of these problems is that individually you can dismiss them, but they compile and compile till you come to realise that literally EVERYTHING in these movies is wrong! The amount of stuff that is done correctly is so small it becomes hillarious.
