Another thing that bothered me was the need to kill Grievous, supposedly to end the war. How would that work exactly? Everyone would just stop fighting cuz they lost one guy? As far as I can tell it wasn't him that started the war so why would killing him end it? What was Grievous even doing there in the first place? He had no set up in the previous movies. He doesn't even get a proper introduction. They just mention him by name leaving the audience to go: "Who?"
All that killing him would really do was leave a giant, leaderless army on the field ready for someone else to take charge of. The army probably woulda been better off anyway considering Grievous' weak grasp of tactics. All things considered the Jedi should have been making sure Grievous stayed in charge to give them an advantage. If the enemy you know is pathetic, why trade him for an enemy you don't know?

That's a good point. He wasn't a founding member of the separatists and the movies present him as a dummy and a coward who just does whatever Palpatine says without question. Robots shut down when you destroy thir control ship, not when you shoot their general!
Basically George Lucas can't stop fucking up with the villains in these things and kept fumbling to correct his error.
First we get Darth Maul. He looks amazingly cool but is barely in the film and is then killed off unceremoniously. (The clone wars cartoon has him come back with robot legs nad pelvis. No I am not joking.) So thats the only cool thing in that movie killed off as quick as possible.
Realising this creates a massive void, Palapatine gets a new apprentice in the mean time. This time its Count Dooku aka generic mc evil. They start trying to build up that he has a grudge with Anakin at the end of the film(something that should have happened with Darth Maul, obviously). I don't really get why hes an apprentice...he was a Jedi Master before, now hes a Sith Apprentice? Isn't that demeaning? He looks to be older/as old as Palpatine. Wouldn't he want to be partners? Or maybe, since he runs the separists, just tell Palpatine to get stuffed and take over? He's the most boring, generic villain in the history of the universe so they hurriedly kill him off at the start of the next one.
Then we get Grevious who seems to have appeared from nowhere and is annouced to be the most important thing in the whole universe and his death will instantly end the war. Why can't bad guys last more than one movie? And why does Grevious have a cough despite not having any lungs?
Mind you, Grevious seemed to believe that kidnapping Palpatine would make him win the war. Are wars in the future like capture the flag? Why did he want to capture Palpatine rather then kill him? Since the Jedi wanted to kill him now cpature him? Maybe he was going to force Palpatine to sign a treating saying the republic surrendered and Grevious was now king of the galaxy? Now you might be thinking that last statement is me being sarcastic, but its really not. In episode one the trade federation try to force the queen to sign a treaty to make their invastion legal. So if you can force someone at gun point to sign something and that than becomes galactic law (because the republic is 100% insane) this is a viable tactic!

I think this does a better job with Anakin than the prequels did...
And seriously. That's... That's... I just don't even...
