Okay. He's right about how radical Islam is not compatible with a free and democratic society. Though his definition of radical Islam might differ from some others.
Assimilation though? Yeah, to some degree. After all, your values have to be compatible with a free and democratic society. And learning the language makes a degree of sense. But when people start toting out assimilation like this, I get uneasy. I'm a big fan of multi-culturalism, I think that there is much to be had from embracing different cultures and such so long as there is nothing at heart preventing them from all getting along.
I wouldn't call this Jindal doubling down though. He doesn't actually want to talk about his claims that much, he's pushing them to the side, and trying to get away without admitting that he is wrong by changing the focus.

Yeah, some of what he said there is stuff I've said myself, regarding people who immigrate but refuse to adapt to the local culture. He doesn't really discuss his comments until he's asked about them specifically, and he quickly change the subject.
I still think he's a knob though.

I think one of Jindal's biggest failings is he doesn't have a lot of mannerisms or uniquely distinct vocal patterns. You need a president that is easy to impersonate on SNL. Reagan, Clinton, both Bushes, and Obama all had that quality.

He should adopt an accent like Bush did. I'll forgive him if he does.

The thing is that not everything he says is bollocks, but thats what makes it worse. He mixes in some truth with his bullshit to make it more palatable. Yeah extremistic islamic nutters are not compatible with modern society, but his implying that they some how represent muslims in general in Britain and are taking over some how. By the same logic, right wing wackos who build bunkers full of guns and are always plotting how they are going to fight the Feds are not compatible with modern society, but that doesn't mean I need to round up every gun owning American as a potential insurgent.
There are legitimate arguments to be had over integration, assimilation and multiculturalism, but when you frame the argument in a dishonest way to begin with, as this asshat has done, you render all meaningful discussion hopeless.
I'd glad everyone else noticed his attempts to change the subject. What a piece of shit that he won't jut apologise when he's wrong, but instead arrogantly still claims to be right and just thinks he can move the conversation on to what ever else he wants to talk about.
The whole No-Go areas conspiracy that seems to be being pushed rather reminds me of another conspiracy that was getting pushed a few years back. It was about some other religion, claiming all its members were plotting together to undermine and over throw the western worlds. Maybe this could all get written down and put into a sequel? The Protocols of Jindal has a nice ring to it.
