The Sultanate just makes me think of Saudi, and I don't like Saudi.

Yeah but they also have a religious rule against slavery, and they "force" that on each other. Even though they could make a lot of cash from getting in on the Jaydia slave trade.

Well that makes sense. But drinking? I'm sorry, but that just goes too far. Its like... making a religious rule against shaving your beard. It is a ridiculous rule.

You're welcome, Canuovea. For the Caligula lecture. Also, perhaps it's too soon to talk about Al-Saigal? Considering certain state of the world affairs that we're all involved in.

No, it's not recent events that have me disliking the Al-Saigal, I've never liked them.

Yes, I do just like the opportunity to talk. I'm like that.
As I said, I don't really dislike the Al-Saigal, but I don't really like them either. Nothing to do with current events. But sometimes I wonder if the more general antagonism between The West and the Muslim world may play a role. I'd like to think not, but... I dunno.

Unless you built a time machine and went back to fight medieval saracens, the Al-Saigal are pretty far removed from any culture you are likely to encounter. They have Islamic style things in their culture, but its important to remember they are not Muslims, and you shouldn't confuse their views and Islamic views (for better or worse.)

Obviously not. There are some similarities, of course, but beyond that nothing to really compare with. That doesn't mean there aren't odd little subconscious things at play.
We make judgments about a lot of things subconsciously. People, for instance. Within the first few seconds your first impression is already formed, based on sometimes very little things. Though this can be right a good 75% of the time, it can also be wrong. (Source: Cracked). So I'm aware that there could be a subconscious thing going on there.
The human brain betrays us so very often.

Tahmus have cool special helmets and scaly clawed hands. AND unlike real spartans they don't kill their own babies!

I do like their design, but they are kind of knobs, but that's more to do with the source material than anything else.
Do they have laws that require them to beat their slaves?

No. Since they are slave they CAN beat them, but they aren't required to. They aren't supposed to get too chummy with them, since the slaves are not their equals, but mistreatment is not required.

Okay, so once again they're not quite as bad as the Spartans. And they don't have feathery hands either, which is a definite plus. I think that's one of the things that makes me uneasy about the Nymus, not sure why though. Still can't convince me to like the Tolpish, this is the only kind of rabbit I'm keen on;

The Nymus don't have feathery palms, just on the backs of their hands. And those are only very small feathers.

Just like the fur other races have on their hands, but still... they freak me out!

Wait, so the Tahmus aren't actually as bad as actual Spartans?
Okay, I'm willing to give them a chance then. At least their women are the smart type generally speaking... but does marriage involve kidnap and simulated (at best) rape? Like it did with the Spartans?
