No...no it doesn't.

Good. Then they're more acceptable.
Also, I like the twist that politics is entirely a woman's sphere. That is a way to twist the Spartans into something near respectability.

They have clear gender roles, but the women's roles are not subservient, just not combat related.

It is interesting to see that, as it is clearly a major difference between the Tahmus and Sparta.

I've tried to tone down some of the historical behaviours which were so unpleasant that to modern audiences they seem unforgivable. If you re-read the Al-Saigal background I've toned them down a bit now. It seemed clever to make their attitude based on what the bible says about it...but with hindsight that might have been a bit too horrible.

I just can't feel the same love for the Al-Saigal that I do for the various types of weasel.

Because I lack the history background to know much about how the ancient cultures influenced these races, for better or worse, I'm pretty much limited to what I've seen of them.
Junlock- I'm mixed. Their magic is cool, and they've got some admirable ideals but at the same time like 90% of the Junlocks I see are mooks/kinda tend towards being jerks. Like they feel a few steps away from becoming another race dominated by the West.
Golta- Great view of these guys thanks to RP/Comic focus...No thank you to being a Golta. They have their strong points but I'm not interested. Not a gun guy, not fond of thinking of life as something to endure through/work focused...Nope.
Darsai-...Tempting. Even if I ignore the amazing Sir Muir, these guys hit so many of the high notes that I like. The sexism is unfortunate, but I can kinda overlook that I think? Kinda like all the races are gonna have their downsides, these don't have it that bad.
Tolpish- Kinda interested in the scarbunnies, strange though it might sound. I dunno if I'm going to try them right away but I think one's on the queue, once I figure out what they're like.
Al-Sigad-Tiger kitties had that one nameless? character with the halberd that makes them tempting. But as I mentioned in the Golta entry, I don't like grouchy races. Maybe, but unlikely.
Ivos Empire- On the one hand...There's this one thing I've heard of attributed to Roman Armies called...I think the name was an Arbelest? Kinda this turret-machinegun varient of a crossbow...On the other hand? No magic funtimes whatsoever, and I have to be a piggy. I'm sorry but Pigma Dengar is a larger figure in my head than Wilbur from Charlotte's Web. Though if I end up not really using racial magic in my character's fighting style anyhow...The Roman Boars are alright otherwise though...
More to come later.

I don't even like Darsai, but I still like Muir.

I was thinking of like...A smaller cousin to Ballista. Though that is kinda the right look. Something like that but smaller I think... Maybe the scorpio or Polybolos?...Probably the Scorpio, I think, though I might go more for the Polybolos in-game. It seems more reasonable of a thing, especially with those Golta gunners holding superior firepower but needing AOE to deal with groups, so a fast-firing ranged weapon wouldn't necessarily just get shown up but would have it's own potential that the golta can't match (yet).

Right in my big mouth for speaking against the charter-this is why I need to either not talk about Golta, or at least learn more about what those guns can do.
On to topics that hopefully won't require another demonstration...
Zadakines-hrrrm. The ACTUAL focus being on family, with money as a kind of...Universal merit measurement? That's what I think of these guys on a philosphical level, and I do like that. I kind of imagined myself playing a truthsayer, and from there, just generally got into their headspace enough that I could see myself playing one, if it came to that.
Nymus- Not likely. Don't like these guys and how they think, and while light omni-magics seem fun, I dunno about looking down on other races all the time like that.
Tsung-dao...I feel like I might actually naturally think like these guys a little. But...Somehow they're just so dull! I think half the problem is they just don't have properly awesome characters. The Shogun seems like he embodies the worst of both Tsung-dao and Darsai characteristics. Chen Chen is curiously unlikable apparently. And the Heretic... He begged for his life like a coward in the end.
Tendu- I've yet to see anything specific to the frog-druggies that I like.
Eldex- I feel like I'd need to see if Quinn Tain is as representative of his race as I think he is before I judge. But speaking as someone who tends to have a lance up his own backside, that guy needs to chill out sometime.
I think I've covered all the races I really know about at this point.

Quinn-Tain is the guy Eldex sends when shit needs to get sorted out.
