Vietnam turned into an even worse clusterfuck?

Vietnam is the reason Little Boy gave up on everything. when you drop a hero with the power of a nuke on civilians people are bound to be upset
it was a dark and depressing time and showed just because superheroes had started as soldiers didn't mean all of them could just be used as them again.

Oh, that would do it.

yeah, turns out people like watching heros on TV stopping the bad guys but don't like it so much when they are killing mass amounts of people

Hmm, well, given how often we watch Hero movies now that seems like it would be an accurate description.
I wonder, does insurance include "superhero damage" now too?

that what the hero tax is. average people pay a bit extra tax in order to pay for damages caused by villains and heros. and unlike in the movies people aren't getting angry because a hero damaged a bank and a street to stop the bad guy.

That is a surprisingly logical response. Maybe the politicians have some competence.

well after nearly 80 years of heros there really isn't the question of "who's going to pay for the damages" there are systems in place that handle all that. plus it makes jobs needing to repair things.
only casualties of lives are when things take a bad turn, but that's a given

Of course, lost lives are lost lives.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would not have been taken very kindly by these people, I imagine.

oh god the destruction on supermans level in Man Of Steel would of alone had people pissed. there's damage and then there is mass distruction.
it does depend on the situation though, but they are still killing so many.
sure sometimes lives will be lost but best to make sure the heros aren't the ones causing it. no one will be mad if Creeper kills 6 people in the time it takes her to be stopped

people shouldn't die at the hands of heros

Indeed!
Though I imagine people care if the villains murder people, just they aren't surprised and shocked that they might.

well of corse people hate that. gives them more reason to cheer the hero on too though.
it comes down to limit people hurt and minimize damage.

It is nice that you've actually got a lot of incentive for that. Some heroes would keep people alive on principle. Others are less concerned with it. In this case, there is an actual reason to get all the heroes being so concerned.

I've been working on this since grade 8 so a lot of work has gone into it over the years. changing and adding things to make the world really it's own thing that stand out among other universes
