I'm thinking about buying a 1967 C10. The first model year for the second generation C10.
I came across one for pretty damn cheap (not the one pictured). Somebody swapped out the 283 V8 for a more modern 305, however, the original engine does come with it. It's not in perfect condition, but I'd consider it "tastefully abused" with only minor damage, faded paint, and patina. It will need some work, but the price is low enough to accommodate any repairs.

I think it looks ugly.
But I'm a car heretic, so...

Oh, yeah. It's ugly.
But it's lovably ugly. Like Quasimodo.

That's be nice. I've wanted to get something as a project for a while, but I just don't have the space to do any serious work on something.
Sometimes you can find 1950s Dodge WCs, I'd love to get something like that, and old military truck.
Though Bren Gun Carriers are surprisingly common in Nova Scotia, but I think that'd be a pain in the ass to get parts for.

I wasn't really thinking about getting it has a project car, I was gonna daily it. I like the way it looks as it sits and just a few days of mechanical work should have it humming. Worse case is an engine rebuild or swap, which, given the price, I'd still be ahead of the game. The nice thing about those old C10s is they made them for years without changing anything, so parts are easy to get and, more importantly, cheap.

That'd be nice for a daily driver, as much as I love driving a Jeep, sometimes I miss driving a pickup. For a while I drove a 1978 F150, and I've always sort of wanted to get another 70s F series, maybe an F250.

Aw, fuck.
A friend of mine brings up a vehicle that one of his friends is selling for next to nothing. It's stupidly practical, gets great gas mileage, and is boring as fuck, but I'll prolly buy it instead because it's too good a deal to pass on.
I can't have nice things.

That spoiler is almost big enough to help this one.

Saturn S series.
Don't get me wrong, it's a fine get around car. I owned one before and was very impressed with it. It's comfortable to drive and has a dynamite drive train for the class, but it's really boring. It screams modesty, it's front wheel drive and can't haul shit.

We had one when I was a kid, my old man liked it, the only problems he ever had with it were a leaking sunroof and that time it got crushed by a tree.

Everyone I've ever known who had a Saturn had nothing but nice things to say about em. They're good cars.
But it's not a truck.
I mean, I got this tough, grizzled exterior. It's sorta wrong to put it in an economy sedan. Especially one that geared itself toward female drivers.

Even a Lada Niva is closer to a truck than a Saturn.
My grandmother's neighbour used to have 3 or 4 of those actually, one was his daily driver, the other ones were slowly being cannibalized to keep it running.

Took possession of the Saturn the other day. So far so good. I ran it around for about 100 miles without any issues. Steering is smooth. Tires have years of life left in them. It runs well at freeway speeds (70+ mph), no shaking or pulling and the engine feels as strong as it should. Brakes are good. There's a rattle in the exhaust due to a loose heat shield (easy fix). The air conditioning has a bit of clatter to it, but it functions. The transmission shifts correctly, though it seems to have been either rebuilt or replaced by someone that's less than an expert. The shifter button no longer does anything as with any other safety involved with the shifter (it shifts out of park without depressing the brake). It can be thrown into any gear at any point. I'm assuming it can be thrown into reverse while driving (though I'm not going to test that). I'll have to be careful and keep my hand off of it when driving and avoid parking it on an incline.
But for 500 bucks it's a pretty good car.
