Wait, is that the canon naming convention for clones?
Shev. Sheev. Sheeev.
It all makes sense now.

I changed my mind. I want the overlay to be the new Sonic movie.

"Society has failed. We need to burn it all down and start over."
That should be the by-line on the posters for the Sonic movie. I mean, that's clearly the message its sending.

So, the newest Star Wars movie is out, and I really can't wait for Hark to review it. (Just kidding, I don't think Hark is going to go see it.) But the thing I was really the most interested about was what kind of overdramatic meltdown the Internet would get itself into this time. But as I perused Youtube reviews, I got a new sense of respect for JJ Abrams. I think he was were aware what kind of bitter divide The Last Jedi caused. And then he saw the final season of Game of Thrones, and he knew what had to be done. So it seems like everyone hates Episode IX. Fans of TLJ and its detractors. People all across the political spectrum. Just in time for Christmas, we're all coming together to express bitter disappointment about one of the most overhyped and nostalgia-pandering series of movies… perhaps ever. And damn, if this isn't the best way to put a lid on this rotten decade, I don't know what is. JJ Abrams is not the hero we deserved, but the one we needed. Me, I'm going to get my Adam Driver star performance from Devil May Cry 5

Awww now I feel like I'm getting called out!
Look, I'll see what I can do...
In the mean time let me put a little twist in the tale of this film for you.
The social justice warriors and elitest media types who loved last jedi hate this new film.
The anti sjw neck beards, trolls and basement dwellers who hated Last Jedi hate this new film.
Its over 80% positive ratings from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
Maybe, just maybe...most people in the real world don't give a fuck about internet drama and just want to eat pop corn and watch the light show?
On a personal note- This movie being hilariouslyh terrible has amused me greatly and put me in a really good mood.

Maybe, just maybe...most people in the real world don't give a fuck about internet drama and just want to eat pop corn and watch the light show? Now hold your horses. Maybe most people don't care about drama, but from what I've heard, JJ wasn't able to continue any of the threads from the previous movies (Force Awakens didn't really set up much, and Last Jedi shunted what little there was), so he basically just threw in every possible fan bait, from Sheeeev to Knights of Reylo, and even the dead Han Solo makes a return… Yeah, I don't think you'll enjoy it any.

They could have come up with something quite well enough based on what Johnson did.
But they decided to bring back Palpatine. That killed any hope I had for the thing. At that point I knew they were pandering to the crowd rather than trying to make a good film.
Haven't seen it yet, but I don't expect it will be good.

Sadly the epic saga of broom boy is going to be left untold.
My take on the sequal trilogy.
Force Awakens had some fun elements but was so timid that it reverted into a remake of the first star wars film part way through and basically abandoned all its interesting elements (a storm trooper turning good, Poe who seems like the hero dying and some nobodies having to step up to save the day) to tell a super boring story.
Last Jedi declared the that all the unresolved plot threads from the last film were stupid, and you were an idiot for caring about them. It then didn't introduce any new ones and ended with no plot threads left at all. It sort of even resolved its own interesting ideas. The concept of Kylo and Ren saying "ah screw it" to Jedi and Sith and joining forces was teased...but then dropped and Rey goes back to being a heroic Jedi and Kylo becomes pure evil panto villain again.
Now I don't really think JJ used his movie to delcare everything in last jedi shit because of a lack of a imagination or pandering to fans. I think it might have just been ego.
He set things up and Rian came in and "subverted" it all. So now JJ gets his toys back and goes "no, this is how its meant to be!"
It makes me want Rian to make another film so he can put it back the way he likes and then the 5th film is just those two slap fighting for 2 hours while going "You're wrecking it!" "No you're wrecking it!"
Shocking take- I think trying to walk back everything the last jedi did is stupid and embarrassing. I thought Last Jedi was ebola on film but this is the sequel to Last Jedi, you have to follow up what it did. It set things up that I didn't like, but those are what you have to work with. A good writer/director would try to put a good spin on those things, rather than awkwardly trying to undo them.
I'm not saying it would be easy. Last Jedi REALLY closed off most directions (getting the goodies down to ten people means we either have to do a lazy time skip or dedicated a big section of film to explaining where they get more people from!)
But this one features shit like Luke saying "A jedi should never throw away a lightsabre" It feels like he ought to turn to the Camera afterwards and add "Yeah RIAN! YOU HACK!" We get it JJ, this is a dick measuring contest for you, but calm it down a little.
Honestly though, the correct answer would be the plan your 3 films BEFORE spending 4 billion dollars, rather than deciding to just make it up at the last minute as you went along. I put more thought into my webcomics and rpgs than disney does into this entire franchise. Let that sink in.
In a Last Jedi update, I have found a couple of things me and my friends enjoy about it. Silly quotes!
When someone fucks up you do a silly Snoke voice and say "YOU FAILED!"
And when something embarrassing or cringy happens you do a silly happy Rey voice and say "I like this!"
Also as a bonus you can do the cyborg guy from Rogue one and go "Save the dream!" That one fits in any conversation. And online you can say "save the memes!" which works as well.

Also, being completely cold and tactical...
Trying to win back the people who hated the Last Jedi might be kind of a doomed cause.
I mean its not making me want to see it. It sounds like shit.
They made a film I hated and then spent the last couple of years telling me I was a bad person for not liking their movie.
Watching them flounder and fail is now entertaining to me.
They are fucking up their new movie to try to win back people who aren't likely to come back.
They've gone out of their way to turn dissatisfied fans into active detractors.
And I must admit, at this point, I'm loving every second of it!
Any one want any Last jedi merc? Near where I live you can still buy that stuff super cheap in the discount shops. I saw a DJ figure! Remember DJ? Yeah I forgot about him too. Who would have thought he would get a figure? And who would have thought you couldn't sell the thing even discounted to £2?
Not seeing a lot of Rise of Skywalker merc though. I'm not a business major, but I think its fairly easy to work out whats happening here.
I hear good things about the Mandalorian though.
