Why not paint stripes on some Gotetra and staple (yes, staple) some gimbit hides the some Darsai's heads?

That wouldn't alter them culturally or magically.

Sadly, they might have been altered culturally as far as possible already. I don't know if they could go back at all even if they were freed.

I also want to point out that Quinn-Tain isn't a total monster! He's not inventing plans that just get people killed and throwing away lives. Its tough decisions made with a heavy heart, not "I think it would save time on the journey if I just ate my friends instead of wasting time carrying supplies." I don't think his intention is malice, but does it matter to the people he fucks over? I can't speak for others, but I just find impossible nowadays to sympathise with characters that do hurt others and then go "I did what I had to do for the greater good, why doesn't anyone thing about my pain?" It just seems too abusive, and too many writers use pointless angst as the only consequence their Mary Sue anti-heroes deign to suffer when they destroy other characters' lives. None of this is a writing error in itself, I just don't think it's sympathetic. I'm kind of surprised, Hark, you seem disappointed that people dislike Quinn-Tain, when he's constantly being called out by other characters in the comic. I thought it was intentional from beginning to end.

StyxD I was just trying to express that complexity of it, that its easy as an outsider to judge someone making difficult moral decisions.
Also I have that contrarian instinct that if everyone says one thing I want to argue the other side!
And my opinions isn't more valid than anyone else's in the scheme of things. If you think a character is a dick, my opinion isn't any better (unless I know something that factually makes you wrong.)

Quick, everyone start saying Quinn-Tain is the cat's ass and the Gotetra are the worst fantasy race you've ever seen (who am I kidding? I can't do that!).

Since a good chunk of my morality is Machiavellian in nature I do have some sympathy for the Panda.

I guess I see the good and bad in all the characters. While many of the villains are absolutely monsters, the heroes tend to be kinda flawed morally. How flawed kinda varies.
I would say Quinn-Tain is more moral than Ki, and way more than Shogun.
So there aren't many really purely good characters.
No one is perfect.

Even Chen Chen tortures and murders those rabbit creatures.
The thing about Quinn Tain is he is an easy target. You'll notice that Shogun gets even more shit because fuck the weeb cat even more than the Panda.
Ki might have more charisma than either, but I agree that he is arguably worse than Quinn Tain if not worse than Shogun (they're about even in their own way I think).
I do tend to find the morally gray villains interesting. So someone like The Banshee catches my attention. The Archduke might have some gray in there too... maybe... hard to tell.
So who are the worst of the main characters, in the comic and PCs, morality wise? And the best of the villains?

Well Chen-Chen is probably the best morally. She's just a nice person.
Glunn is nice too. She's very selfless...though she does do the whole berserk rage thing!
I dont want to judge all the characters though. It might give too much away regarding how the plot will develop!
The bad guys run a spectrum from conflicted and guilty about it, ones who think they are in the right to horrible monsters who totally dont care. But I like to make them hateable so we cheer when they loose. Even if they are sympathetic, we still want to see the heroes bring them down. Its a heroic adventure story after all.

Only if someone fucks with Shalem, unless you're possessed by some uncontrollable urge to attack him then she seems pretty harmless.

What about other characters we've run into? And played? Lets get everyone's opinion on people's morality!

Seems to me that Sir Muir is the strongest morals.

Sir Muir certainly applies them consistently. Chen Chen and him certainly seem best of Book One's characters. Scatterpod is alright too.
