Scatterpod defends Quinn-Tain when she thinks he was wrong because she believes they need his help, so she is making moral compromises.

Making moral compromises doesn't necessarily make one less moral, if making moral compromises for the greater good is part of your morality.
It is for mine.
So she simply isn't being selfish by doing that.

But thats what Quinn-Tain gets a hard time for!
She was carrying the can for the arguable bad thing she did.
While canuovea's logic makes sense, Scatterpod was doing the same stuff that Quinn-tain does, just to a lesser extent. Perhaps thats because she has smaller sphere of influence, so she isn't confronted with these situations as much.
Also, I just want to point out...Brightleaf tried to shank her long time friend, mentor and the Ano-Chee's top religious figure because of a vague promise from The Fallen about being able to bring her dead husband back to life (something The Fallen obviously can't do!) She was wielding a knife whne Quinn-Tain snapped her neck! So while the argument that his reaction was excessive is valid, it wasn't like he was just going around murdering innocents. Brightleaf was misguided and her thinking was clouded with grief, but she was still 100% about to commit murder when she was apprehended.
(I'm being devils advocate a bit here)

I know, I'm not actually bothered by most of Quinn Tain's stuff. I think he's okay.
That being said, he's still an asshole in some ways, but he's okay.

I always think Ki gets off lightly. I mean hes a complete prick, hes just witty and likeable while hes doing it.

The thing is, Ki does something very important to facilitate that- he's smart enough to keep his dirty deeds OUT of our view. On top of which, he's basically a ninja- so anything 'evil' he's done probably falls under the umbrella of things ninja do. Quinn-tain? He's practically the dude in charge of fighting the West. Shogun was a big storied hero! So naturally when guys like that do something 'evil' it's a big shocker. Ninja necksnaps someone for sneaking up on him? He's being a ninja. The low moral baseline that Ki doesn't even TRY to deny he has I think makes him being a jerk within expectation and thus it's not shocking...What might be more shocking is that I can't actually think of any TRULY dick-ish thing he's done, story-wise! Shogun's stolen that thunder!

Oh yeah, Ki is about as bad as Shogun, no doubt. He's just more charismatic, but also awful too.

Well, the first panel is definitely something out of Baywatch. Kal would actually make a great lifeguard, with her ability to swim forever. Maybe she should consider the career in more peaceful times! I hope we'll get small panels in future comics from time to time, showing us Kal's status. "Meanwhile: Kal is still swimming." Regarding protagonists' morality, because I kind of missed out on that discussion… I think Scatterpod gets off the hook more easily because of how her relationship with Quinn-Tain is. He has all the power. She basically goes along with what he says even when she hates it because she honestly believes it's the lesser evil for her people. Quinn-Tain decides how big the evil is. Also, Scatterpod at least believed Quinn-Tain should be punished, even if she could and would not do it. Quinn-Tain was more like "What do you mean, I kill West, West bad, I good. Also I sad." This doesn't necessarily make Scatterpod morally better, but it makes her more sympathetic. Ki is kind of similar. He's not good, but likeable. Zaealix was pretty spot on with his analysis. We haven't seen him do anything controversial since his rebirth at Scatterpod's hands, and he's been mostly polite, and has a bit of a roguish charm and he gets shirtless a lot. He also doesn't have any pretense of being a good person. Contrast that with Quinn-Tain who walks around expecting to be treated as a saviour and gets offended whenever someone says no to panda. He's probably a better guy than Ki, but you just want to punch him in that stupid face. Shogun is kinda like Quinn-Tain, but he's ineffectual to boot. He's probably gonna stay firm at the bottom of popularity polls. And with that controversy out of the way, I guess I can say something about other various guys. Chen-Chen is naive and good, probably the least offensive of any character. Though I have to question, with this archetype, how long is she going to stay this way. Sir Muir… I wouldn't call him good per se. It looks like he's developed that gallant and simple persona to hide some trauma. Who can say for sure what's up with him? Raeeda is kind of a posturing nationalist who harps constantly about other cultures. So she's a bit like Basil, but with a little less sense of humour. Also, Basil has the advantage of his race not making it to the "races no one likes" poll. All in all, she's not a bad person but I can't imagine liking her in the long run. Shalem is the by the book soldier. He'll do what his king demands of him, no less, no more. Also, he's a slave owner who totally messed up Glunn's mind to make her bend to his every wish, the poor thing. Say it ain't so! Glunn is completely precious and cute, but like Sir Muir there's the sense that something is very wrong with her under the cover. The maharajah's son (completely forgot his name!) is the Chen-Chen of the new group, expect he's not even a brutally efficient warrior! What a precious guy. Ferrix is giving the vibes of someone who doesn't really care and only is there because he has to. Could go either way. Didn't really do anything atrocious so far, and everyone loves Junlocks, so he has that going for him.

Ferrix also goes shirtless a lot. Prince Mashul is his name! I must admit I forget it too, I keep just calling him "the prince" in my head. He takes part in some good comedy bits. I liked when he shows up in disguise and Shalem immediately says "That better not be Prince Mashul in a mask."

Like Basil if Basil was trying to be a dick, rather than just being a bit obtuse.
Everyone loves the Gotetra with all their heart.
Yeah, she's definitely one of the good guys, but she's pretty mean spirited.

I think she's funny. She's always irritated by how stupid she thinks everyone else is and making some funny comment about it.

Goddamnit Hark, that's not funny! For just a second I thought we might be rid of Quinn-Tain before long!

I guess that means if Harkovast ever gets a live-action adaptation, Quinn-Tain is going to be played by Tom Cruise, which really is perfect.
