The gun badgers being keen on blowing things up makes sense. Her sounding Welsh is just extra neatness on top of that.

Sometimes it really does make sense to carry a bunch of guns and load them for someone else.

Since he doesnt have a fixed name, I think the character is called "The Numbered Sniper" in the card game.

Hmm. I'll have to check the Golta cards again.

He is definitely in the card game. A lot of the rangers are.

The rangers look quite a bit overpowered here. A medieval-style army would have no real way to defend against ranger ambushes (unless they were to invest in ridiculously heavy plate, which knights initially tried, shortly before middle ages finally gave up the ghost in front of more and more powerful guns). Of course, in that era guns were nowhere near accurate enough, but it seems they are for the rangers. What I'm saying is that they would probably be viewed as hyper-elite core of Golta tactics, instead of a bunch of weirdos that are let into the woods to do their own thing.

Oooh. Did the Zadakine assassins get in and shut the gate?
Or are the Nymus authorities willing to give up Shogun in an attempt to placate the angry badgers? Or simply just not to risk letting them in?

The rangers are meant to be the super elite Golta warriors. Normal Golta armies are largely not very professional, with the exception of the grenadiers and rangers, and a few other formations. Most of tehm are militia who are badly quipped except for their muskets, lacking army, and having fairly basic training to stand in lines and shoot.

The rangers are meant to be the super elite Golta warriors. Oh, I see. It's kind of weird that the hardcore outcasts are the elite army. But maybe like the Zadakine, mainstream Golta society sees army as an unbecoming trade. Mustelids, am I right? It took a decade, but finally, Hark made me think that Shogun is cool. Or are the Nymus authorities willing to give up Shogun in an attempt to placate the angry badgers? Or simply just not to risk letting them in? I don't think it's exactly controversial to close the gates in case of a siege. And Shogun kind of jumped out without informing anyone, so who could have foreseen that? Luckily, if Shogun is a real badass, he'll just run vertically up the battlements.

I actually finished this page a bit ago but my wife wasn't free to proof read it so it was a bit delayed.

Ah! The narration is very very clear on Shogun's status as a absolute menace, and I love it.
If I didn't know any better (and I don't) I'd think that maybe we're looking at one of the KitWs future best buddies. Holies. Evils. Whatever.
