It's pretty expected whenever a religion aligns itself with a state. It ends up worshipping the (idea of the) state. Russia just had a head start compared to Poland, but it's by no means absent here.
And the Catholic Church is tethered to Rome, unlike Russian Orthodox (where Putin might as well name himself the patriarch). This is a bit funny, as it forces Polish bishops to relay the pope's messages like "hey,we should help the refugees" and then watch the host of hateful xenophobes they've been pampering for years as the last hope against liberal corruption pretend they didn't hear anything.

Oh yeah, but that is also a problem in plenty of other places besides Poland.
Look at the US, among others.
