That's interesting thanks. Regarding exceptions it could also be argued that it's in the Gotetra's best interests overall to not interfere too much with how Anzlovs do things in their own towns and encampments (then again, they already seem to do this to a degree).

Anzlov tribes are generally allowed to run things according to their own customs, as long as they aren't disturbing the peace or doing anything to cause the Empire trouble.

A wise decision.

But what about Anzlovs who live in Gotetra cities and towns?

Anzlov living in Gotetra towns would be expected to follow Gotetra customs and laws.

Poor foxes... they can't be gay and live in the cities.
So, if a Gotetra was openly gay, lived in an Anzlov settlement (and got along with the foxes), would they risk being punished by the Gotetra authorities, or would they be left alone?

It sort of depends on the situation. I think if he was really open about it the Gotetra might become hostile, but to some extent the Anzlov are expected to be barbaric savages. Its a bit of grey area and is going to depend on how much the tribe have integrated with the Gotetra. Gotetra authorities know not to antagonise Anzlov tribes if they don't have to, so arresting one for what the Anzlov would describe as Anzlov culture could cause a major incident.

So more or less it would depend on how open they were, how much the Anzlov like the Gotetra in question, and how likely the Anzlovs would be to react poorly if the Gotetra was arrested for doing something the Anzlov consider natural while living among them.

Yeah these arrangements are a bit fluid. There is an inherent tension between the Anzlov and the Gotetra. As we saw in chapter one, some Anzlov tribes can get very dangerous if they think they are being attacked or disrespected.

Soo, umm, a question: Where to go for finding out which races are which, exactly? I'm okay insofar as most of the races that appear in the comic, (with the exception of the arabian frog? guys that the tigers hate) But I feel like I'm kinda missing out on alot of information. Any one-stop place to go for a catch-up or do I just need to gear up and start reading.
also, hi.

Hi Zealix! Welcome to the forum! If you look on the side bar next to the comic there is a shield with "races" next to it that gives a guide to some of main ones we've seen so far. I haven't added to it for a while though, due to other commitments and harkovast related projects (mainly the card game that is still in the works.)
If you scroll down in the Harkovast comic section on the forum there are articles about some races and things about Harkovast you might find interesting. That is a good bet if you want to expand your Harko-knowledge.
Other information is kinda spread around based on when people asked me things, or things I mentioned in passing. If you hang around the forum you will find you pick up quite a bit of it just naturally over time.
Hope that's helpful.
In case of contradictions, the order of canon is that anything I put on the forum or say in passing is over ruled by anything in any forum rpgs and those are inturn over ruled by anything in the race section or in the comic itself. So if I say something about a race but when you see them in the comics its changed, the comic version is right.

I can't find the list Canuovea did up on the old forum that lists the races and what animals they are, but I'll do up my own here in a moment.

Canovea had a list of which races were what animals on the old forum, I can't seem to find it though (it's probably buried in one of the threads), so I'll do what I can here (and I might be wrong with some of these);
The ones we know from the comic. These ones live in Vellastrom; -Darsai (cats, medieval English) -Ano-Chee (foxes, Native American) -Ivos (boars, Romans) -Nymus (general birds, Greeks) -Zadakine (weasels, vaguely Carthaginian) -Golta (badgers, inspired by Colonial Americans) -Junlocks (wolves, Gauls) -Onrappa (squirrels, Celts) -Tsung-Dao (lizards, Japanese)
These ones live in Jaydia; -Tendu (frog/toad/newt things, Indian, among other things) -Al-Saigal (tigers, Arabs) -Eslum (sea lions, Renaissance Italians) -Cansaibe (cheetahs, various African inspirations) -Bardabor (bovines) -Tolpish (rabbits, Ancient Egyptian) -Kumaru (Rhinos I think, one was on the page showing the pirate who's looking for Quin-Tain, not sure of culture)
The Wizards of Eldex (panda) are from Eldex, an island hidden somewhere in the world.
These ones haven't appeared the comic, although some have appeared in the RP, or we've at least discussed them on the forum a bit; The ones are from Vellastrom; -Panvos (warthogs, Macedonian I think, they're part of the Ivos Empire) -Tahmus (crows, Spartans) -Brorg-Dao (lizards with thick hides and horns, they're Vikings)
These one are from Jaydia; -Foshtor (giraffes, another one based on an African culture, not sure which one yet) -Gotetra (horses, Byzantine Empire) -Anzlov (fennec foxes, various Eastern European influences, mostly Cossack though) -Komus (parrots, Mesoamerican) -Tritoro (polar bears, they're Eskimos) -Knarl (no idea what they are, but we suspect they're insects of some kind) -Shulway (armadillos, Jewish. They used to have a kingdom in Jaydia, but the Cansaibe nearly wiped them out, now their population is spread around Jaydia and Vellastrom)
These ones are from the White Kingdom (to the far east of Vellastrom and Jaydia); -Gyo (otters, various Asian influences, mostly Thai and Vietnamese I think) -Chang (lemurs, Chinese) -Wu-Yao (goats, Mongols maybe?) -Yulbax (bears, they're Korean) -Dol-Kim (raccoons, not sure of culture, could be Mongols) -"Water nomads" (water voles, at least for now. They live on boats, but we haven't named their race yet)
These are races that used to live in Xalkara, now called The West; -Levengroust (skunks, Imperial Germany) -Galdrasai (lions, Frankish (one of these guys fought Raeeda and Quin-Tain when they met the Maharajah)) -Ishmus (seagulls I think, Persian influence) -Karack (hyenas, not sure of their culture) -Rotetra (we suspect zebras, not sure of culture) -Lukov (bats, Russian) -Lel (we think they might be moles or mice or something like that, not sure of their culture, but technically advanced)
I didn't list some races because I don't think we know anything about them other than their name, and you can find that by looking at the magic chart.
You can see we know next to nothing about the people who used to live in Xalkara.
