The background to 40K sometimes goes a bit off the rails, but games workshop can stand proud with the knowledge that it makes the best models in the world....right?
Unfortunately Games Workshop has a tendency to fire and replace anyone of any artistic ability in their company. This has (shocking) started to have a knock on effect on some of their designs.
Space Wolves riding stuff
Wow, some people make some goofy conversions with their models, huh?
Gluing space marines onto big wolves? How goofy can you get?
Yeah...
Not conversions.
These are real models.
This is an official thing.
Guys in power armour, hop on big wolves and charge forward waving swords and hammers.
Have the space wolves taken the wolf gimic too far?
or...
NOT FAR ENOUGH?!
Sticking tat on space marines
Space Marines look cool and iconic, what could make them look better?
I KNOW!
Stick random goofy crap on them!
Yeah! Wings and masks and all kinds of stuff!
Let's do the same for vehicles!
Awesome! Now no one can tell what the hell they're looking at.
Just keep stickign random crap all over them, that never looks bad.
When I think stylish designs I always want the words "messy" and "crowded" to come to mind.
Space Marine Inception
If you are anything like me, you are wondering why we can't fit more space marines inside larger space marines.
There ya go! Wear power armour over the top of your power armour! That won't look goofy and ridiculous at all.
But I think we can do better.
Have you ever seen someone with a baby carrier and thought...
That should be the basis for a new space marine vehicle!
If the answer is yes (and I'm sure it is!) let me introduce you to the Dreadknight.
I remember when GW made models that didn't cause me to laugh out loud.
