She came about from me wanting to have a big ripped amazon chick who was primarily a fighter. A polar bear seemed a good "big strong" animal to go with. I'm not sure where to got the idea for the war paint. I think I was thinking about spiked, bright coloured hair, so I expanded that to her face. And bows are bad ass.

One worrying implication, the UK government is letting the CIA help Chimera, so basically they are throwing the adaptive community (their own citizens) under the bus in order to curry favour with their powerful ally. A bit of a dick move.

...Yanno, I never did peg Insight for being so small. But I guess that might be part of why she doesn't go in for the cool fighting stunts.

She has super martial art skills, but she is physically quite little. She can jump all around like Yoda. I guess Yoda is kind of a good comparison, as she is meant to be physically small, but has lots of power and wisdom.
There is meant to be a contrast between her and Judgement, and the reason he is really big is because she is little so they seem like opposites. It also fits with him being a much more intimidating, menacing character. That's also why he is male, because she is female.

Frost, Carter and Flare see guards protecting a large set of doors near the back of the factory, with guard protecting them. Frost indicates they should get past them, causing Flare to put an arrow on her bow. Frost urgently says they can just knock them out! The three of them leap into action, and take out the guards, taking a key card to open the doors to the back area. Inside, is huge wag factory, producing the drug on an industrial scale. In this area there more openly armed guards, and workers with breathing masks putting green liquid into small plastic containers. Flare starts physically attacking the machines, which carter considers a good idea and joins in with his robot arm strength. The sound of all the machines means their violence cannot be heard. Frost says you can do a lot more damage with more subtly and sets to work removing a panel and tampering with the workings of the machinery.
Riptide meets up with Steel and Sidewinder in the truck depo where boxes of chicken are being loaded onto some trucks and unmarked boxes are being loaded onto other trucks. Riptide has a backpack full of high explosives (because she is Riptide so of course she does!) and sets about planting them around the area.
Riptide catches sight of vehicles pulling up outside, and realises that something is happening.
Alarms start to sound and the guards start filing the workers out of the factory to the dormitory where they are being housed.
Outside, whisper gets out of a van, accompanied by large numbers of armed thugs. Most are local gangsters recruited to the cause, carrying small arms and shotguns. She also has Chimera veterans troops from South American warzones, equipped with assault rifles and submachine guns. She directs the thugs to go into the building and kill the intruders.
Frost radios Sidewinder, Steel and Riptide and tells them to hold off any reinforcements that enter the factory, while he finishes sabotaging the wag production. Using the control he has set up for the buildings electrics, he turns off all the lights, making much of the factory interior pitch black (as it lacks windows.) With their night vision goggles this helps to even the odds against the attackers. Riptide throws flash bombs which dazzle groups of attackers, and then jumps in amongst them using a baton to wound their legs and arms before using her snakey otter body to leap over a counter and slip out of sight before they can recover. Steel pushes a heavy palette over, crushing several attackers. Sidewinder gets in amongst a group of them and uses his fighting skill to beat down and disarm several of them. Being a snake, the cold conditions of the factory are not his preferred environment, but he soldiers on. The attackers prove very vulnerable to these ambushes in the dark, and are caught off guard by the severity of their opponents. Steel sets a forklift truck running, with the pedal jammed in place wiht a frozen chicken, so it runs down the isle of the factory, sending thugs fleeing back outisde. As her minions come fleeing outside, Whisper watches the forklift hurtle past her and slam into one of their cars. Obviously not pleased she orders them to get back in there, this time sending in her Chimera troops along with more Thugs, under the orders to sweep the building, shooting anyone that is currently in there. One thug objects since they may hit injured men they left behind, but a glare from Whisper silences descent.
Meanwhile on the roof, Macavity and Damage meet a landing helicopter which contains Agent Wyatt and a group of his CIA agents. They starts strapping on body armour, putting on helmets and opening metal boxes containing M-16s. Wyatt comments that he missed out on Vietnam, but now he's still getting to blow away bad guys for Uncle Sam. They all seem very enthusiastic about this concept. Macavity tells them "I wasn't here" and gets on the helicopter to depart with Damage.
The new tactics of advancing basically firing at anything that moves proves more effective for the attackers, though they shoot several workers, guards and even some of their own number that were left behidn from the first attack.
Carter and Flare have managed to smash open or tip over several large pressured containers of liquid, while Frost has caused the whole conveyer belt to go into reverse, with the nasty sound of grinding metal as the machinery starts to internally tear itself apart. Heading out the main factory floor, they find Sidewinder, Frost and Riptide taking cover from the barrage of indiscriminate gun fire as the attackers advance, torch beams searching for targets. Frost suddenly says that he has a plan. If there is one thing he knows about humans, its that they prefer a temperate climate. Him and Flare head into the huge walk in deep freezer, where large pallets of frozen chicken are stored. The cold is INTENSE but a husky and polar bear don't notice at all. Frost removes his jacket and shirt so he is in just his vest, then bangs his night stick on the walls to make noise. Flare fires off a couple of arrows with concussion bombs attached in order to draw the attackers towards them. The two of them then split up, waiting in the dark. Enemies soon rush in, but very quickly begin to struggle in the intense cold. When one of them says they should withdraw, another tells him "You idiot, it will affect them as much as us!" This proves....optimistic. Flare fires flash arrows and concussion bombs into the small groups moving through the freezer. She also gets in amongst their groups, using her bow to cudgel them brutally, before darting away again before other groups can respond. Frost uses his massive strength to scatter enemies with powerful blows. One of them he hits with a thrown frozen chicken (which is basically a solid block!) smashing the guy in the face. With their attention drawn towards pouring more men into the Freezer, the other good guys can take advantage. Steel is a very dangerous fighter and uses his skills to beat down multiple attackers. In the dark and their attention distracted, the good guys can get in amongst them and cause chaos, turning the hunters into the hunted.
Steel slams a guys head into the wall of the factory, which is covered in insulation so the mans head just sticks into it. Steel the knocks a man out by swinging a frozen chicken as a club (Yes, this might be a record for the most times frozen chickens have been used as a prop in an rpg). The man with his head stuck in the wall frees himself only to receive more brutal beatdown.
At this point, the CIA enter the factory floor, firing pretty indiscriminately and perhaps having a little more fun than they should be. They kill several of Whispers minions that stray into their path, and begin to advance on the good guys general area. Sidewinder leaps out and grabs Wyatt from behind, putting his fans against his neck to use him as a hostage. Recognising Sidewinder, Wyatt rants angrily, calling Sidewinder "bugs bunny" and saying he wont have a job cleaning MI:6 toilets after this! Wyatt says there are two kinds of people where he comes from, bugs and thuds "and one of them ain't people!" He then pulls a pistol from an ankle holster. Sidewinder catches his wrist, twisting it to disarm him and bits him in the shoulder, before pushing him back into his men and darting away.
With their leader wounded the CIA start to retreat, as do Chimera and their minions. In the freezer men can barely hold their guns due to the cold and are easy prey for Frost and Flare.
Outside Whisper is clearly displeased to see her men fleeing once again. One shivering thug tells her that they didn't stand a chance in there, to which she responds by drawing a throwing knife from her wrist band and stabbing him in the eye. Whisper is soft spoken, but her actions speak loudly.
Having driven off another attack, the good guys regroup (with Frost using his control of the electronics to shut off the freezer so the injured enemies inside don't freeze to death.) Carter suggests they dash to the river, where Chimera have small boats patrolling, steal one and use that to escape. Flare questions if he any of them can drive a boat. Carter says they teach you a lot of things in the army. Steel helps the weakened Sidewinder, and the group bursts out of a side exit of the factory. As they exit Riptide sets off the explosives, blowing up the depo (which is empty of people as the workers left and the battle didn't happen in there) sending bad guys diving for cover. Carter rushes the nearest boat, holding his arms in front of his body and head to deflect stray bullets and then uses his cyborg legs to leap to the boat, barging the driver out of it into the river. He then grabs the boats other surprised occupant and flings him out as well. The good guys pile into the speed boat and race away, with Riptide laughing maniacally about all the destruction she got to cause.
Sometime later, King is at a warehouse with Chance, Komodo and Muerte and several of their Chimera troops. Several of the HDL thugs arrive, angrily demanding to speak to King, closing the shutters behind them. They shove a scruffy looking human man towards King, who recoiled in disgust that the filthy man touches his white suit and messes it up. Komodo hurls the man away from King. The ragged man has blackened finger tips and a generally gaunt unhealthy look that would suggest wag addiction. The HDL are outraged! Many of their members are dead or missing, and now wag has started to work on humans, something they were promised was impossible. There intention was that the drugs would destroy the adaptive community, but clearly it has backfired on them. King explains that they have misunderstood their relationship with Chimera. He finds their ideology repugnant, but they were useful to help clear away opposition while Chimera got their operation in place. Now its up and running, the HDL are no longer required. He explains that Purity improved the Wag formula for them, expanding on Fischers work in new directions (thus explaining her purpose at the prison). Now the HDL can either start working for Chimera or get out of the way. The HDL are not pleased about this betrayal, but when one of them gets in King's face pointing, a new figure (the King introduces as Granite) reveals themselves. Granite is a huge snapping turtle, dressed in a poorly fitting sun dress stretched over her armoured shell. She grabs the HDL member by the hand and crushes it with ease. King says he likes her feminine touch. At this point, the chimera minions back away as several none adaptive lionesses prow into the area. King says not to be afraid, these are just his girls, they wont hurt anyone. "Oh don't worry, these are just my girls. Don't be scared, they won't hurt you. They just get a little hungry. Have you got any meat? Where can you get some meat around here? WHERE'S THE FUCKING MEAT?"
As King walks away, screams can be heard as the HDL are devoured. Macavity is in another part of the warehouse looking nervous. King tells him not to worry, what happened at the factory was not his fault. Macavity is Chimera now, so he is family, and King protects his family. King says that Insight and her followers have wrongs Macavity terribly, and King is going to make sure they pay dearly for that.
Meanwhile, at charity lunch event, Lotus is explaining confidently that the poem "eeny meeny miny moe" is racist because of the reference to a tiger being caught by the toe is clearly mocking adaptives. Insight, who is also present says, as politely as she can that she hadn't thought about it like that, and makes her way to leave. Ghost rolls her eyes at what Lotus was saying but Insight says that at least Lotus is trying to help in her own way. Outside, Ghost freezes, sensing danger with her superior adaptive senses. She dives to tackle Insight out of the way as a passing van opens up and automatic weapon fire and rocket propelled grenades fly from inside, causing explosions and carnage.
(Oh no! Chimera have struck back! Will Insight and Ghost be okay? Without Insight, will our heroes be lost? WHERE IS ALL THE MEAT? This is as far as the plot has got but I am hoping to do more this weekend as the chapter heads towards even more shocking twists. Believe me, if you think its been crazy so far, its about to go up to 11.)

The whole thing with Chimera getting help from the CIA is a various obvious reference to rumours that the CIA helped spread crack to black communities in order to fund anti communist groups in South America. Also the fact that the problem has now spread from the adaptive community to the human population is a reference to aids epidemic that was over looked when it was considered to be "the gay disease" but eventually spread to the straight community too.
Also the fact Chimera fed the HDL to fucking lions should dispel some of the impressions people had that there were just two sides in this story. Chimera are fucking over everyone in order to achieve their goals.

Outside of Munder's headquarters, crowds of protestors have gathered. In her office, Daydream urgently shreds papers while taking on her phone about how her lawyer wont take her calls. A man in a suit is assisting her. On her desk is a copy of the Beacon newspaper with the headline "Munders- The right drugs?" Frost and Riptide, wearing black ski masks, enter the room suddenly. Daydream asks "Who are you? Are you the police?" Riptide- "Ha yeah you feckin wish! And don't try the alarm under your desk, we already cut that." Frost jabs the man with an electric prod that hurls him against the wall. Riptides pulls out a butterfly knife, grabs daydreams hand and pins it to the desk. Riptide says "Time to talk."
Sidewinder walks into Directors Hall and Castle, where Agent Wyatt is ranting angrily. He says Agent Smith messed up their entire operation, putting Americas national interests in danger and bit him in the damn shoulder! He didn't fly over here to this piss ant island to get his mission screwed up by Bugs fucking Bunny! At that point, Sentinel and other the police officers, arresting Wyatt for aiding and abetting drug traffickers, firearms offenses and multiple murders. Sidewinder had already contacted them before coming to the office. Wyatt screams that they can't do this, since he's working for Uncle Sam. Sentinel looks surprised to see Sidewinder, having previously not known he worked for MI6, and acknowledges him "Agent Smith." Sidewinder responds that he is just doing his job.
Director Castle is angry at the international incident this is going to cause, but Director Hall says that Sidewinder has done well as always. He tells Sidewinder that the rest of Agent Wyatt's team that aren't being arrested are being assigned to Brazil. He points out of the window, where Sidewinder sees a group of agents getting into a van, in which Sidewinder sees Whisper (who he saw previously at the battle at the factory.)
Sidewinder then gets in the Red Sled to go the clinic to see Insight, who is there after being injured in the attack. On the way he passes The Video Sett, and is shocked to se it is boarded up. Wavelength, looking filthy and bleary eyed is sat in the doorway with a sign that says "Need money for food." Wavelength is in a bad way and doesn't seem to recognise Sidewinder, obviously having fallen foul of using Wag. Sidewinder helps Wavelength into the Red Sled to take him to the clinic. The has a small crowd of reporters outside and police managing them to let people in and out. At this point, Sidewinder is surprised when an adaptive woman on a hot pink motor bike pulls up alongside him on the pavement. He realises it is Trace, the hare from CLAW, but she says she isn't there to fight. She says that Chimera can't be allowed to get away with what they've done and gives him an envelope. Just before she departs she looks back and says "Nice car." Sidewinder can't help but be pleased at that last part.
On TV news, it is reported that Delilah Smith (Daydream's human name), owner of the Munders super market chain has been taken to hospital under police guard after being assaulted in her office by protesters.
Inside Riptide, Frost, Steel and Flare are waiting nervously. Ghost is in a private room, with Garrett, and Insight is also in a room of her own. The channel is changed to- Tonight on Eyes Open with Emily Chong, as the wag epidemic continues to blight poor communities, we ask why the government wont allocate more spending to help treat the victims of this life destroying addiction?
In the clinic waiting room with Steel, Flare and Frost, Riptides turns off the television. Riptide says "I can't stand that bloody woman! Two weeks ago we needed a police crack down to arrest all the junkies, but as soon as it starts affecting humans, suddenly we need more treatment and hugs!" Riptide also quietly tells Flare that Flare "Took care of my boy Frost, and that means a lot, so you're okay by me. Also I think the bow is fucking kick arse. As weapons of choice go, that's pretty awesome."
The clinic is more crowded then ever, and stinks of vomit and necrotised flesh. Sidewinder arrives and Tranquility has some nurses help Wavelength. Tranquility allows Steel, Flare and Sidewinder to go in and see Insight, though Insight can't be bothered too much. Insight looks very small in a big bed, hooked up to monitors. She says to Steel "Don't worry, it's all okay. Everything happens for a reason, remember? This is going to work out for the best. Carter took pictures of me, to go in the newspaper. I look really adorable, a little furry thing in a bed, looking ill. I'll get a lot of sympathy from people. I look really cute and cuddly. It's okay, I know, its alright. I'm a cute little critter. People want to come up and give me a hug. Cute critter." At this point everyone is starting to think this is sounding a bit odd. Insight says " Don't worry about me...Tranquility gave me a button that dispenses morphine." She holds up a plastic button with wires attached that she pushes to give herself more pain killers. She then pokes Steel on the nose and says "Boop." Steel makes comments that he blames Ghost for failing to protect Insight properly. Ghost pokes her head in the door nervously but is shoed back to her bed by Tranquillity, saying irritably that she has been told to stop trying to go to Insight and needs to stay in bed till she is discharged. Insight says to Sidewinder "Please get Ghost out of here, she shouldn't be sat around worrying. She should go do something with Garrett, I'll be fine."
Flare goes after Tranquillity and asks her about security at the clinic. Flare is concerned that Chimera will try to finish the job. Tranquillity says that she knows everyone who works at the clinic so would be aware of anyone who is not supposed to be there, and an assassin would have to get past all the reporters and police that are around the clinic at the moment. The conversation is a bit tense, but Flare apologises, since she is just concerned that something this bad could have happened. Tranquillity agrees that everyone, herself included, is upset that something so dreadful could have happened.
When they return to waiting room, Steel says "Who are we going to kill?" Frost says sternly "No one." and then explains that Silver (Insights assistant at the Temple) wishes to meet with them to discuss their next course of action. She has arranged to meet them at the Steward Pub.
Meanwhile- Macavity and Damage arrive an office building, with Chimera goons stood around it, who part to allow them through. Going inside they see dead bodies, with weird standing out veins from Muerte's poison, Komodo hurling people around and holding someone's head up to a ceiling fan. The whole place is trashed and there seems to have been a complete massacre. Macavity stops Damage as someone tries to flee and getting pulled back by Chance's chain. They also see Granite smashing a man's head against her shell and stabs another who ineffectually strikes at her with a wooden bat, impaling him on her claws. They enter a large room where King is hunched over, eating Johnny the Gaps intestines, covered in blood. Barchus, his wife and Eddie are tied to chairs, with Whisper pouring petrol on them. Damage runs out to vomit. King looks around, all wild eyed and crazy, chewing on guts, but then stands up and goes back to his normal suave persona and says someone betrayed their factories location to Insight's goons, and Barchus went missing briefly and him and his men showed up again injured. This is the price for betrayal, and a chance for Macavity to prove his dedication to the cause. Macavity takes out a match box (with some difficulty since one of his arms doesn't work great) and manages to light a match and then throws it on Barcus and says "So what do you want me to do to prove my loyalty?"
Silver meets the good guys later at the Steward Pub. Sidewinder is on the quiz machine, with Frost helping call out answers to him. Riptide is telling Frost a funny story that ends with "...so I said 'I've walked all the way here, you can at least whip it out." Silver says with irritation "what the heck are you talking about?" Riptide responds "Cock. I was talking about cocks." She clearly enjoys antagonising Silver, who she has no respect for. Frost tries not to snigger too much at this. Riptide has a car radio that has put on the table to work on with a screw driver. Silver says "And what is that?" Riptide "A car radio" "And where did you get it?" "From a car. Why? Do you want one?"
Ghost and her human boyfriend Garret are on stage, where Garrett is singing Karaoke, serenading Ghost. Silver rolls her eyes. "Urgh, those two are so embarrassing. Do they have to flaunt themselves like that?" Steel gets up and leaves while the two are performing, knocking over Ghosts drink as he goes. She lays out her plans for what they are going to do. She wants Frost and Riptide to guard the Temple, while Steel, Sidewinder and Flare can provide her with security since Chimera might come after her too. Flare, not being a normal member of the group, keeps quiet. Sidewinder initially tries to be positive. At this point Ghost comes in on the chorus of I want to know what love is, making bizarre animal noises and the odds garbled word that vaguely fits the tune of the song. Silver looks like she is going to be sick with disgust.
Riptide takes out a lighter and hold it up, Frost seems amused and joins in.
At this point Riptide holds up her hand. Silver, irritated says "Yes?" Riptide says "Since when is this a monarchy, and you get to inherit being in charge?" She tells Silver she isn't Insight, and mocking calls her "Silver medal." Silver insists that she was put in charge by Insight. Frost agrees that they need leadership, and she was put in charge so they should do what she says. Ghost comes back over to the table, giving thumbs up and obviously pleased at the way the karaoke went. Steel sits back down, looks at Silvers plan, screws up the paper and throws it across the pub. He has brought fish and chips that he offers around, making a point of not offering any to Ghost, who looks a bit sad. Riptide takes a large hand full of chips and gives them to Ghost. He points out that Flare outranks Silver in Unity, so shouldn't they follow her? Silver just keeps reiterating that Insight put her in charge, which really seems to be her only claim that she should be giving orders. Her plan of basically doing nothing comes under a lot of criticism and people question if Insight's opinion is valid as she is on morphine at the minute? Silver eventually storms out, saying they will be to blame if she gets murdered.
At this point, Sidewinder reveals the letter he got from Trace, suggesting that he thinks he might also be in with a shot with her. The letter gives directions and time for a meeting. Frost says they have enough problems, they cant go and get into a fight with CLAW right now. The idea of actually meeting with CLAW never even occurs to him. Flare makes clear she strongly dislikes CLAW, seeing them as perverting Unity into something violent and that meeting with them would be a deal with the devil. Sidewinder thinks it could be a good idea (Flare tells him to think using his head, since he's probably getting distracted by Trace.) Steel thinks it is their best lead right now to go after Chimera, since he is keen to strike back at them. Riptide also thinks this could be a good idea as their investigations are at a dead end right now. Frost ends up leaving in anger, saying that he wants no part of working with CLAW and neither should they. Riptide starts to object but he glares at her and she hurriedly gathers up her radio, saying to the others that she will talk to him and he will come around, and then follows him out. After he leaves Steel says "Stuck up prick." Ghost is annoyed by him saying "Not nice!" Steel basically laughs in her face. Garrett comes over to the table and Ghost takes his arm and leaves with him, obviously pissed off. Sidewinder says disapprovingly "Not cool, Steel." Steel can't really defend his asshole behaviour.
This leaves just Sidewinder, Steel and Flare at the table. Steel says the ones that left don't really believe in their religion anyway (Frost and Riptide aren't Unifiers and Steel never counts Ghost in anything.) Though reluctant, Flare is persuaded to go to the meeting with CLAW. The meeting is at a old garage, with Paradox standing guard outside (a psychic being a pretty good choice for a guard! She bangs on the garage door and they are let inside. Within, Trace is working on her bike and jumps up, clearly excited they agreed to come. Hazard comes down from the roof, with a big sniper rifle, clearly having been watching their approach. She has fingerless gloves, one with "Bad" and the other saying "Dog" on the knuckles. Across the room, with his back to them... is Judgement. (Holy crap, what does Judgement want? What is CLAW's agenda in all this? And what do Chimera have planned next? Find out next time I write some of this!)

So. Insight on painkillers-slightly scary to me given the whole 'wag' stuff going around... Also, surprised Judgement himself appeared like this...But then again he used to be a soldier-I imagine he'd not want to pass up this chance to try and bond with Insight's group, especially if he was aware of Insight being a bit loopy... Actually, here's an interesting question. Insight and Judgement together in THE discussion-namely, how best to deal with the adaptive's treatment. I wonder if they could come to an accord, of sorts, even if they couldn't sway the other to their point of view.

Insight and Judgement used to be friends and were both disciples of Acuity, so they have worked together in the past.
I think you will find the way the plot goes interesting from this point. I really like the next bits.
