Well the detail is exaggerated on models becuase they are small. If you scaled them up to real life they would look ridiculous (remember the hilariously oversized guns in that shit Ultra Marines movie?) Damn it! You've got me defending fucking Stormcaste!

I suppose if they aren't really like that, and that is just the exaggeration for the models then it is fine.

Yeah everything has to be a bit bigger to make you see it. Gamesworkshop do this more than most (and sometimes take it too far and it looks stupid) but its something you see in models a lot. To make them look interesting and visually 'pop' you need to make it bigger and crazier than it might really be.
There is a similar thing in Harkovast, where the characters motions are very exaggerated and over the top so you get a sense of the motion. I didnt know to do this on teh early pages which is why they sometimes looks a but stiff and awkward. Strangely the more over the top action makes it seem more natural. The same is true of the character designs, they have oversized eyes so you can get their emotions clearly and their figures are quite exaggerated, with hugely buff guys and hour glass shaped women. You would assume just trying to make it close to reality would be the goal, but a lot of the time that just doesn't work in different mediums.

If everything has to be larger so you can see the detail, how come they always make the heads so damn small?

Hahhaha thats becuase space marines have shoulder pads so huge they would put evne the most power dressing 80s babe to shame! And since sigmarites clearly just lift the exact same style, you end up with heads that seem tiny in a vast mass of over the top armour everyone is drowning in.

Yeah, but even in proportion to their height their heads are small. And that Brightshield chick is wearing a helm and her head still seems small. Which means without her helm she's a pea brain.

Damn it canuovea! Its not loading the pictures!
Wordweaver oh yeah its easy to forget they have helmets, so their heads should acutally be OVER sized because the real head is inside.

This site has some problems with images that originate in 4chan. Its not my fault, Tiberia finds these things and they're hilarious. Here, I'll try to find them or similar ones.

It's the Incredible Hulk effect, where Hulk is normally drawn with a huge body but a puny head.

Hulk get mad, hulk get strong, but no one ever say hulk get smart! Canuovea spoken like a TRUE 40K fan. Only newbs like space marines! The only good space marine...is one in a space ship because BFG is best.

I remember that they actually showed space marines outside their armor a few times, in comics and renders of the upcoming Lord Inquisitor movie and such.
And they actually look really fucking weird. Like, total opposite of the flailing tube arm thingie you guys posted.
Because of the set of organs they get implanted, their upper bodies are hilariously bulky and just look like some dark age comic character, straight out of a Rob Liefeld issue. They dont have ribs anymore, just a melded ribcage, and their muscles just swell to hulk levels, so yeah the whole "tiny heads, huge body" thing is actually intended and not just a byproduct of their HUEG PAULDRONS!
And speaking of Age of Sigmar and Warhammer40k, they are now moving the plot forward in 40k too. Like, End Times style.
